Before before before before before I had a consultation with Director Kim Da-alm at Obliv Plastic Surgery and had eye and nose surgery.
For the eyes, the surgery was double eyelid surgery and epicanthoplasty. For the nose, I had ㅇnofit, long-nose and bulbous-nose correction, and for the nasal tip, donated costal cartilage + ear cartilage were used.
Because I am writing this sincerely, it may become a long post, but since I looked around here and there and realized how important reviews are, I am taking time out of my busy work life to write this review. [Everyone’s time is precious, so I will leave a 3-line summary at the end!]
My originally small, sharp-looking eyes were a complex of mine, and when my face was relaxed, I looked angry, so I had been considering eye surgery since college, but because of the burden? fear? of surgery, I put it off for a long time. Now that I think about it, I do think I should have done it even one year earlier, but at that time I did not know Director Kim Da-alm, so I am satisfied enough to think that doing it now was actually better, and I recommend at least having a consultation with the director. [The only hospital I was satisfied with, from the light small talk, comfortable voice and way of speaking, atmosphere, kind response, even seeing me off] + A comfortable consultation with the consultant, who only asked about the direction I wanted to improve and did not mention any surgical method
I started properly looking into hospitals from November 2021. At first, I recklessly paid a deposit at a large hospital said to be famous for male cosmetic surgery and planned to have surgery there, but people around me told me to look into it more carefully before deciding. While trying to time it so I could take a week of vacation, another year passed. (Back then, I had only visited one hospital, so I did not really know, but the consultant made it sound like they could not give me that price unless I paid a deposit, so foolishly I paid 50,000 won..)
After that year passed, I learned about cosmetic surgery communities, booked consultations at several hospitals said to have good reviews, and went back and forth between Busan and Seoul for consultations. At first, I just thought every hospital I went to sounded plausible, but when I finally had a consultation at Obliv, it felt a little different.
This is limited to the hospitals I visited, but they all recommended ptosis correction, and there was no hospital where I felt they properly looked at my CT. If you watch YouTube, they say CT is not that meaningful for a first surgery, but I had lived feeling that there was a functional problem, and Director Kim Da-alm looked at the CT and told me in advance that the right side of my nose was not functioning properly, so I trusted him more. On top of that, he said my eyes were not the kind that needed ptosis correction, and that because my eyelids covered my eyes a lot, double eyelid surgery with incision (inner double eyelid) would likely be the better answer.
Now, one month after surgery, I really think it was a great decision to listen to the director and proceed with surgery rather than ptosis correction. Usually, men are not very interested in cosmetic surgery, so what every hospital director says will sound plausible.. (So please at least get a consultation at Obliv. Even if you do not have surgery there, I think you will be able to set a reference point.)
My nose was deviated both externally and internally, it was long, and the nasal tip was on the blunt side. My nose was not small, but it had a slight hump and felt sunken compared with my overall facial framework.
To correct the length, overall size, and deviation, he recommended ㅇnofit, and because I had previously undergone septal surgery for nasal obstruction when I was young, we proceeded with nasal tip surgery using donated costal cartilage. In addition, he corrected my deviated septum to some extent, so I am so happy that I can breathe well through my nose now.. (With a little exaggeration, it feels like I used to breathe through a drink straw and now I breathe through a bubble tea straw.) At other hospitals, they suggested osteotomy and making the nose slim and glamorous.. (Thinking about it now, I worry that if I had done that, breathing might have become uncomfortable haha.) What I was actually worried about while watching rhinoplasty reviews on YouTube was the content saying breathing became uncomfortable after surgery.
After looking into it, I found that Obliv is one of the few hospitals that uses custom implants. Because of that, I wondered whether it had been verified, so I went home and searched YouTube a lot.. There still is not that much information, but my trust in the director became trust in the surgical method, so I trusted him and proceeded haha. (According to what I heard on YouTube, when surgery is performed, carving the silicone takes quite a bit of time, and by saving that time, more attention can be paid to the nasal tip; if the surgery time is shortened, swelling or bruising later is reduced. That is what I saw. [Something another director said on YouTube])
I did not intend to write this much.. but as I kept writing, it became way too long. I will write just a little more..
On the day of surgery, I visited the hospital.. Even though I told myself it would be okay, as soon as I got in the elevator, my heart was pounding hard.. Not long after I lay on the operating table, I exchanged a few words with the director and a lot of my tension eased.. (His way of speaking is so sweet. [Is it just me because I am from Busan..? ㅠㅜ])
And not only to the patient, but also to the nurses assisting with the surgery, he made requests and spoke so kindly that I felt very comfortable. So even at the moment anesthesia was being started, I was thinking that I had done so well to trust the director and have it done here.. If I write that I was thinking about how to write this review for him, would you believe me..? That was when I finally understood why people in communities or apps prefer single-doctor clinics over large hospitals.
After the long surgery ended, when I was still groggy from anesthesia and lying in the recovery room, I saw the director once more before returning to my accommodation. He must have been tired, but he was so kind and even gave me a post-op consultation, so I returned to my accommodation with a light heart!
3-line summary 1. This is absolutely not a review saying, “Have surgery here, this place is the best.” Just add it to your many hospital lists while doing footwork, book in advance, and at least have a consultation. 2. If you want flashy cosmetic surgery, I am not sure whether I can recommend it. If you want overall harmony + pretty but natural surgery, I recommend it! (I was told that the silicone for the sunken area in the middle was customized to about 3.8 mm.) [It was good that I could know the post-op shape in advance before surgery through the ㅇnofit program.] 3. (Both I and the acquaintance I recommended it to) had swelling go down really quickly after surgery, to the point that people at work thought I had just had a light procedure. (Around 1 week after eye surgery, it felt like the major swelling had all gone down.) For the nose, from the front it did not stand out too much compared with my face and looked like my original nose, so people said they thought I had lost weight.
Sincere review over (I cannot write this twice..)
