I went in for a consultation because I was worried about my hump nose. Even though I was late for my consultation time, the staff and everyone were kind, and I was able to go in for the consultation with almost no wait.
It is a private clinic with one doctor. I went there wanting to have only the hump shaved down with a closed approach, but because my nose tip is droopy and my face already has a long midface, the doctor said that if only the hump were shaved, the nose would look even longer, and that if osteotomy were not done it would look uneven, so they recommended nose tip surgery. They also recommended septal cartilage, but I did not want my nose to be unable to do the pig-nose motion, and I was afraid I might later have to remove it because of a foreign-body sensation, so when I asked whether it could be done as just filing it down, they said they could do that but I would likely be dissatisfied with the shape, and they did not seem very inclined.
It seems that shaving only the hump with a closed approach is 1.6 million won, and if the nose tip is included it comes out to around 3.2 million won. There were no photos taken; they just checked my nose a little in person and explained the basic surgery. I did not really feel like getting nose tip surgery, and it did not seem like they were considering my face as a whole. My nasal bone is very developed overall, to the point that I was teased as a child for looking like a long-nosed Westerner, and I do have a fairly prominent tip, so if septal cartilage were used it would probably be too much. Since the hump protrudes from the middle of the nose and creates a curve from the front, making the face look longer, I thought a lot of factors needed to be considered, but the explanation felt somewhat standardized.
