First of all, I had been using double-eyelid glue + double-eyelid tape, and then a double eyelid formed, so I just lived with it. But my eyes gradually became more asymmetrical, and recently I felt like my double eyelid was loosening too much and getting thinner, so I decided to have surgery.
On a plastic surgery review app, I narrowed things down mainly by photo reviews of eyes in the style I wanted and chose clinics to visit for consultations (3 places). And clinics where acquaintances had surgery (2 places). So these are reviews from consultations at a total of 5 places!
Clinic 1 ㄱㅅㅎ Non-incisional method (10-point adhesion) + upper canthoplasty I said I wanted my eyes to be longer horizontally, but they said they aren’t short even now, so no medial/lateral canthoplasty. The consultant was kind, but the doctor was busy. I think the doctor left in less than 5 minutes. I went early, so I waited a bit. The clinic interior was pleasant.
Clinic 2 ㄱㄱㄹ Recommended buried suture method. No dual canthoplasty here either, and they did not recommend lateral/lower canthoplasty. The doctor marked the line several times and seemed kind. Compared with my nose, they said no medial canthoplasty. Director ㄱㄱㄹ had fewer reviews than the others, and seemed to have a shorter career still..ㅠㅠ They were kind, but I passed.
Clinic 3 (1 director) This was the first place to recommend incision. On top of that, they recommended ptosis correction and medial canthoplasty. I want a more open-looking eye shape, but they said I have an epicanthal fold, so I need medial canthoplasty. They explained the side effects of ptosis correction. They gave me the hard truth that the eyes I want can’t come from my eyes.. The thick flesh above my eyes wouldn’t really improve even with fat removal. But the price was in the 3 million won range... What!? Who spends 3 million won on their first double eyelid surgery.. Both the consultant and doctor were fine. The doctor looked a bit tired, but was the type to explain everything.
Clinic 4 ㅅㅎㅅ (there are two clinics with this name in Apgujeong, but this one isn’t on the app) I went because an acquaintance recommended it. The doctor seemed to have a very long career.. Buried suture + medial canthoplasty + lateral canthoplasty, around 2.4 million won..? Medial canthoplasty is essential because of my epicanthal folds. They also said lateral canthoplasty would be effective for my eyes. Because I open my eyes a lot using my forehead strength, ptosis correction was added too. One sad thing is that surgery isn’t done under sedation anesthesia.. This was the best so far.
Clinic 5 I originally booked with Director ㄱㄷㄱ and went, but after the consultant checked the eye style I wanted, they changed me to Director Gwak Jeong-ha (but there are a bit fewer reviewsㅜ). 12-hole natural adhesion + medial canthoplasty + ptosis correction (They said fat removal probably wasn’t really necessary..) It seemed like the line could be matched similarly and raised a bit. Medial and lateral canthoplasty are possible, but they said I might not need them. But the doctor was seriously super kind.. This was the first doctor like this while going around for consultations. Very warm, treated me well, and clearly ruled out unnecessary surgeries.
