This is a hospital known for rib cartilage insertion surgery. It was my first nose surgery, and I was scared of complications, so I decided on autologous costal cartilage. It has been 4 years since the surgery, and I have no discomfort or complications. It just feels like my own nose. The reason I am not fully satisfied is the shape. I had a slight hump and a bulbous nose, so they inserted rib cartilage into the bridge and a piece of rib cartilage into the tip. Right after surgery, I was quite satisfied, but contrary to the pre-op explanation that it would hardly be absorbed, the height became lower than immediately after surgery and the bridge shape did not improve compared with before surgery. Of course, it is not like the shape is strange. Compared with before surgery, it is fine, but clearly the shape is less pretty than surgery done with silicone. I would not recommend it as a first surgery, and it seems more suitable for people who have had inflammation or contracture. Also, the paranasal augmentation... there was almost no difference, to the point that I could not even tell whether it had been done. The doctors and staff are kind during consultation. But after surgery, the doctor seems too busy, and the staff are not exactly rude, but they are definitely different from before surgery. Anyway, I am dissatisfied with the shape, so I am looking into revision surgery!! But I also wonder if that is the unavoidable tradeoff if you want safety(?) T_T I have not had any inflammatory reaction!! Please think it through carefully.
