Eye Surgery Reviews

BK community review

I had double eyelid surgery here with the buried-suture method. The reason I chose this place after going somewhere else was, honestly, the price and because it was a buried-suture procedure. The other places were either incision + ptosis correction + upper epicanthoplasty, or non-incision + ptosis correction + upper epicanthoplasty (the epicanthoplasty was optional). Since they do a lot of procedures, I was told the price would be around 1.7 million won... I had my dad's permission and was paying with my dad's money, so I thought it was too expensive. Of course, my friends also had procedures in that price range, but when I thought about paying it myself, I felt bad toward my dad.

Anyway, that intro was too long. So I said I wanted the line as round as possible, with an inner-out fold. And I said I did not want the front part of the eye to disappear into the line like an inner-line style. During the first consultation, they said things like, oh, that is all possible! Of course it can be done with buried sutures, yes, yes, everything is possible! Your eyes are wide horizontally, so you probably would not need epicanthoplasty either. When someone praises your face and says everything is possible, it feels really good, so I could not even ask the questions I had prepared and left. Since they said everything could be done, I was like, oh... haha, really? and then just nodded along, got counseled like a sucker, and put down the deposit right away.

I do not know if it was just me, but after the consultation, once I had paid the deposit, it felt awkward not to, so I started thinking I might as well do it here. But once I got home, I wondered if I had paid for nothing, and when I thought about not getting the money back later, I suddenly regretted it a lot. You know that feeling... is it just me? T_T I really felt that way. Apparently this hospital is famous for not providing aftercare lol. I felt like I was screwed, so I called immediately to cancel. I am seriously way too easily swayed. A crazy pushover. At this point I need ear fat grafting, not eye surgery... Anyway, when I called, they said the counseling manager was in a consultation right now and they would ask her to contact me after that, so what else could I do. So I waited, but they did not contact me all day, and I kept thinking, what if I do not get my deposit back?

I wanted to keep this short because it was annoying, but it is getting long... To start with the conclusion, I want to strongly recommend that you do not get it done here. What I am going to write next is about what I felt while going through it here. I do not think mine turned out well either. My eyes could have turned out okay; it feels like even if I had just gone to an eye clinic and had surgery there, I would have ended up around this level lol. I am suddenly annoyed. If this hospital is on your list, please take it off right now. If you already booked, you can still go through with it, but if it turns out well then fine; if it does not, I think this is the kind of hospital that really does not provide aftercare. Mine did not fail completely, so it was not awful. No, fuck, honestly it was awful. What kind of hospital does not provide aftercare? Seriously... Anyway, I mentioned the conclusion first for people who care about that. (I just came here to snoop and read reviews, but I found out you have to write reviews for three hospitals to see other people's reviews, so I am writing this -3-)

So I waited for contact. But they still did not reach out, so around 4 p.m. the next day I called and said I was the person who had asked to cancel. I said I would meet with the director again for a consultation! They asked for my phone number and a few other things, then said, oh, you are the person marked as surgery canceled. I was so annoyed. They had time to register the cancellation, but no time to contact me? Anyway, I made an appointment for the very next day and went in. I told them to redraw the line and asked about aftercare, but they just dodged the question. Anyone who has done a lot of part-time jobs will know this feeling, but they were basically like, yeah, it will be fine! If it comes undone sometime between six months and a year, we will do it again... For a moment I thought maybe I should not do it. But searching for another hospital was also really annoying, and this place was honestly the cheapest, so I decided to go ahead. I have no idea how many times I changed my mind in my head. I was about to storm out and say, I am not doing it here, give me back my deposit. But then they kept saying it would work out, and I thought, whatever, a lot of people get double eyelid surgery these days, so maybe it will be fine. At the same time, I was terrified that I would be the unlucky case. T_T Somehow the surgery day came, and I went alone to have it done. They kept me waiting a very long time in consultation, and when they came in and marked the line, I really did not like it.

After they marked it and the director left, I looked in the mirror by myself and tried drawing over the line, and it looked terrible. So I asked to have the line adjusted again, and the director came back up. I felt bad, but this could be the eyes I live with for the rest of my life, so I thought it would be wrong to just get annoyed, and I said what I needed to say in a somewhat bold but still respectful way. They re-marked the line and went back down. Also, a different manager, not the one I had consulted with, came to escort me to the operating room. I never saw the consultation manager again after that day lol. Not great... I do not know which floor it was. My heart was pounding so hard that I just went up without thinking. Walking down the hallway, I heard a lot of noise from one room. It seemed like the people who were having surgery were talking. Then I lay down, got the anesthesia injection, woke up, and went to the recovery room. The recovery room staff were not especially kind either. Curious, I picked up the mirror in the room to look, but they took the one I had in my hand and put it back where it was... Could I not just use it for a moment? It was just a small mirror like the kind you keep on a desk when doing regular makeup. It really felt bad. And then when I got home and looked in the mirror, the lines were different and the heights were different too.

I thought, I am screwed. Still, I kept busy rationalizing it by myself. I felt like crying, but I was worried the swelling would get worse, so I could not cry, and I kept going like that. Around day 4, maybe? It was still the same: different lines, different heights. Once I faced reality, I regretted it like crazy and kept thinking, why did this happen to me? If I was worried, why did I not just not do it at that hospital? Why did I not cancel? What does money even matter? I should have gone somewhere else and paid more if needed... I regretted it so much. Since I had surgery on July 8, it has only been about 10 days now. I am just getting by, thinking I at least hope it does not come undone. I did not have double eyelids before, so I would rather keep them than go back to having none. If one eye is uneven, well... when someone sees me for the first time, maybe they will just think, since the eyes are uneven, they probably did not have surgery. That is all just me trying to rationalize it and avoid stress.

As for aftercare, it really does seem like this is a hospital that does not provide it. The rumors online definitely were not there for nothing. I said my eyes were uneven and the lines were drawn differently and the heights were different, and I sent photos. They did not even look at the message for two days. Before, they would send something like, yes, please check the surgery date and come in! But the message they sent then was, come back after 30 days. Look at that attitude... absolutely do not get it done here. Absolutely not. Seriously, absolutely not. If someone around me said they were going here, I would stop them with everything I have, and I would even go with them to look for another hospital instead. I tried to keep this moderate, but I am venting. I wrote 5,438 characters apparently lol. It is way longer than a personal statement or a school essay lol. Usually when you are angry and wronged, the words just keep pouring out, right? Maybe that is why. I am okay now, not too bad. I had a dream today that my eyelid completely unraveled, leaving a full single eyelid, and the surgery scar stayed so I got scared looking in the bathroom mirror. I just hope it does not come undone!! Rather than having the skin above my eyes sag, please let me keep this exact eye forever!! If it comes undone, I will have to look for another place... It was my first surgery, but I am trying not to regret it. I have not seen my friends yet, and I am scared of their reaction. Haha, now I am really finishing. Bye bye.
