I think there are a lot of people worried about contour surgery, so I am leaving a 4-month review. Before my surgery, I searched cosmetic community reviews a lot too. Especially for a case like mine, where I only had the zygoma and chin done and did not have square jaw surgery, there were not many reviews, so I worried even more. So I will write honestly in case it helps someone.
First, I only had the zygoma and chin done, and I left the square jaw alone because it was not that angular to begin with, so it did not seem necessary to touch it. In consultation, I asked for a slimmer overall face width and better proportions.
When choosing a hospital, I picked places that showed post-op 3D bone photos on YouTube or Instagram, and during consultation I also checked whether they would later confirm the results with bone photos. I honestly thought face photos alone were not enough to check the results.
I had consultations at 7 places, and the opinions split between zygoma only vs. zygoma plus chin, so I had a lot to think about. Since I was going to do it anyway, I wanted to do the chin too and soften the whole line, but most places said the effect would not be very big. Only the Glam director gave me confidence that the chin could definitely make a difference. He said my chin was not so much a witch's chin because the bone stuck out a lot, but more of a style with developed muscle/fascia, and that if the bone was refined and the fascia was also released almost like slicing paper-thin layers, it would look more refined. So after thinking it over, I decided that if I was already doing the zygoma, I might as well do the chin too. The result is extremely satisfying! If I had only done the zygoma, I think I would still have kept worrying about my chin.. This is not a surgery you can do twice.
The first month after surgery was honestly a bit of a mental breakdown lol The swelling was much worse than I expected, especially around the zygoma, so my face looked even bigger. My chin was also swollen so firmly that speaking felt awkward and eating was uncomfortable. The pain was bearable, but the swelling, the pressure, and seeing a strange face in the mirror were the hardest parts. At that stage, I think everyone thinks at least once, "Did I do this for nothing..."
But once I got into month 2, things changed a lot. As the major swelling went down, the zygoma line was clearly more refined and my face width felt a little smaller. The chin also gradually connected more naturally, so the proportions felt more balanced. Around then people around me started saying things like, "Did you lose weight?" or "You look different." That was the real mental recovery phase lol
Now I am at month 4, and personally this is the most satisfying stage. It is not fully settled yet, but in daily life it is barely noticeable and looks very natural. The zygoma effect is definitely there. From the front, my face looks less wide, and the side line is much softer too. Because I did the chin as well, the proportions feel much more balanced. I am also satisfied that I did not do the square jaw. If I had shaved everything down, it might have looked too artificial, but now it feels neat while still keeping my original face impression, which is exactly right. These days the most common thing I hear is, "I do not know what you had done, but you look prettier." That was actually my goal, so I am pretty satisfied.
What I learned about recovery is that swelling really lasts a long time... I could not tell the results at all until month 1, and only after month 2 did the contour become visible. So I do not think there is a need to worry too much in the early stage. I did not do any special care, just walked a lot, drank a lot of water, and avoided spicy food. Even that seemed to help the swelling go down.
And the Oligio treatment I got in month 2 was really good~ It was provided as aftercare, and after getting it I felt like the swelling dropped fast~ Since I am only at month 4, they said it is not fully finished yet, so I am looking forward to it settling even more naturally. At this point, after getting through the hard early period, my feelings have completely shifted to "I am glad I did it." I hope this helps anyone who is still deliberating :)
