Ever since puberty, I was often told that my face was close to a circle... (not oval, really round.) I had felt this complex many times and had been living as a total emotional wreck, so I had surgery 3 years ago! I was 27 then, and I’m 30 this year, and my nasolabial folds have become frighteningly deep really fast. They show up like that in selfies, too, and the wrinkle line is seriously obvious T_T Because I had a weak chin, I spent about 120 and had chin advancement, and I was so satisfied that I suddenly went bigger and had wide zygoma reduction and surgery to remove the lower side temporal muscle... I wanted to look more slender! Of course, I should have stopped at chin advancement. To be honest, the surgery itself was successful, and unless I bring it up directly, people around me don’t notice. Surgery that touches bone is hard to recover from, but on the outside it doesn’t seem to be easy to notice. Well, since I chose a method that reassembled the bone rather than shaving it down or rotating and filing it, it was naturally very subtle. The only problem is that I personally keep feeling bothered by the areas I had operated on!!!! Like I said, I was already very sensitive about my appearance, so I was an extremely delicate person, and I should have listened to the advice from some surgery expert who said people with sensitive personalities should not do this. My cheekbones were definitely reduced, and in photos my face looks less bulky, so the camera treatment is a bit better now... But in real life, when I meet people, I always kept my hair styled to cover the side cheekbones, so the difference is only minor. Instead, because the cheekbones were reduced, I ended up with deeper nasolabial folds, and now I have this bizarre habit of puffing out my cheeks every day T_T On top of that, during the three months of recovery, I barely went out at all, and I felt very depressed and ashamed of myself for choosing a cosmetic surgery that requires literally shaving down bone. I was already the type who cared about propriety, so I kept thinking about how I was cutting into the body my parents gave me and all that... I probably regretted dozens of times that I should have just used that money for a backpacking trip in Europe. I used to do lifting treatments like Ulthera, but now I can’t keep up with maintenance because of money problems, so the stress is even worse. Because my cheekbones were large, I used to worry less about wrinkles, but these days all I see are the nasolabial folds, and now that I have to do something about them too, it feels burdensome. Part of me wants reconstructive surgery. My side cheekbones... T_T Right now I’m looking into a mini facelift, and if that solves this, I will live a life where I never worry about my appearance again. In the end... the effect is short and life is long. If possible, I recommend just living as you are. Especially for sensitive people, really... the more surgery you do, the more endless it becomes.
