I’m currently 2 weeks post-op, and this is my own in-person clinic review, written because I’m bored during recovery. I wrote about 2 places before, but I’m rewriting it with the additional places I visited. I’m from Busan, and everyone else got double-eyelid surgery when they were young, but I’m only getting around to it late, so I visited only after filtering out places people around me said didn’t go well at all. (But honestly, there aren’t that many people around me who turned out well,,,)
For reference, before surgery my eyes were true monolids with not even an inner double line + protruding eyes + thick eyelids, so I had to raise my brows to open my eyes There was a slight Mongolian fold, but the inner corner was moderately open
------------------------------------- 1. ㅍㄹㅅㅌ Head doctor > consultation with staff manager (about 15? 20 minutes total)
It was a clinic I didn’t know, but a friend of a friend said they did well here with the head doctor, so I went. It’s a one-doctor clinic, and I was told the doctor had recently opened here after working at ㄷㅍㅇㅅ. The clinic was clean, and the doctor was really kind. Honestly, I knew nothing and came in as a same-day walk-in appointment, so I just nodded along while they explained things lol I didn’t like the line, honestly, but they did draw it several times to show me. When they brought up the inner-corner incision, they tried it once and said it was too much, so they advised against it. Then they said the upper-corner incision would be needed to make the eyes look rounder. At first I felt like I got a decent consultation, but as it went on it started to feel a bit vague..?
They recommended incision + upper-corner incision + eye-opening correction After that I had a consultation with the staff manager, and that was where I learned for the first time that there’s something called a review discount,, They explained the price and discount method, aftercare (swelling package, injections, laser available), and checked the schedule. Since the doctor came from ㄷㅍㅇㅅ, the operating style and aftercare there seem somewhat similar? (But I get the sense this doctor has some failed-result reviews floating around)
2. ㅇㅎㅅ Only consultation with the staff manager (no phone reservation, need to leave a deposit to consult with the doctor)
This was a clinic that was famous back in my middle and high school days for doing natural-looking work well. A close friend actually had sutured double-eyelid surgery here and it turned out well. But when I looked it up, there were a lot of reviews saying it leaves severe scars, and my friend also had complications, so I decided I wouldn’t do it here and just visited because I had time lol I went mentally prepared, but the counter consultation right in front of the entrance was still too much, and from check-in to consultation to leaving, it took just over 5 minutes, and the clinic felt a bit like a hair salon.. I was the only person there, but when they called my name while I was waiting briefly after check-in, they sighed lol;
They recommended incision + upper-corner incision + eye-opening correction From other reviews, it seems they bundle upper-corner incision into every consultation here? The line they drew was the most natural-looking, but since it was the staff manager drawing it, well.. But honestly it felt like they were playing back a recording when explaining double-eyelid surgery When I asked what they thought would happen if I did an inner-corner incision, they suddenly got flustered and felt like a neighborhood older sister The only thing with any soul in it was, “You already show the lacrimal caruncle well, so if you do it, it’ll look weird” << that line They said you can’t make a phone reservation if you want to book surgery; you have to visit in person,, um,, okay
3. ㅈㅅㅎ Head doctor > consultation with staff manager (about 20 minutes)
This place had no review discounts, no acquaintance discounts, nothing like that, so it was really hard to find reviews, but it always quietly showed up on people’s in-person clinic lists, so I got curious, made a reservation, and went. The clinic was clean, but felt a little like an internal medicine or ENT clinic.
The doctor was, as I had heard, quite elderly (one-doctor clinic) (But I thought if age were a real problem, they wouldn’t still be running a clinic normally, so I didn’t worry about it. A lot of people seem to worry about age..) As soon as I went in, without saying anything, they drew the line by themselves and then had me hold up a mirror. They drew and showed me inner-fold, in-out, and semi-out lines, and explained overall double-eyelid surgery and eye-opening correction. They were fairly kind. Especially here, they said they don’t recommend eye-opening correction unless it’s really necessary, but they said I also had pseudo-ptosis because the eyelid fat was covering my pupil.
When explaining buried sutures and incision, they said buried sutures are like a highway and incision is like going around a long way, and that incision is not something that becomes complete in one month or two, so you need to wait slowly for at least 6 months before it settles properly,, At other places they had said things like “everything gets better in a month,” but for some reason this felt very trustworthy. Of course, another way to look at it is that you might not be satisfied for up to 6 months?
And they’re the type who stresses that plastic surgery should be beautiful rather than just natural, but the line they actually drew for me was natural and good lol
Both incision and buried sutures possible, no canthoplasty, no eye-opening correction I first heard that buried sutures were possible, so I was shocked once I assumed eye-opening correction would definitely be needed, so I was shocked a second time But they showed me male double-eyelid surgery cases why,,!
After I went out, I only had a price consultation and schedule consultation with the staff manager. Definitely, even though they only do one thing and nothing else, the price is higher than other places
4. ㅋㅇㅇㅈ Consultation with staff manager > doctor consultation (20 minutes)
Honestly, back when I knew nothing, this was my top-choice clinic The reason was that the app reviews were exactly my style.. (but now that I think about it, it was probably all filters and editing) There are two doctors, and I consulted with doctor ㅇ. I asked through KakaoTalk when doctor consultations were available and made a reservation. (The main doctor is doctor ㄱ) There were more people than I expected, including a lot of men and middle-aged people, but there was also a weird factory-like feeling.. I went after booking, waited a little, and first had a consultation with the staff manager in the consultation room. Among all the consultations I’ve had so far, this one was the kindest, and they pressed on my brows the most. They seem to mainly promote partial incision rather than buried sutures, and that was what they recommended to me too.
But while filling out the consultation chart, they kept writing and erasing eye-opening correction and seemed to be debating it, then finally wrote it in at the end (maybe my eyes were a bit ambiguous? The consultation was supposed to be over, but they kept saying “wait a second” and pressing my brows). Throughout the consultation they kept saying that things could change once I consult with the doctor, but when I actually saw the doctor, maybe because they had just finished surgery and were tired, or maybe that’s just how they are, they were really blunt. They told me to put on the headband, so I expected more, but they barely drew the line, showed it once, and that was it. The consultation was really only about 3 minutes? We talked for a bit and then I had nothing else to say, so I just left. I was going to ask about eye-opening correction, but they said it had to be done, so I couldn’t ask (but from reviews, it seems they bundle that in for everyone anyway)
Looking at it, it felt like the doctor wasn’t judging directly by looking at the patient’s eyes, but just reading the chart the staff manager wrote and matching their words to that. So after the doctor consultation, I honestly lost all interest very quickly too bad, the staff manager was fine though,, I didn’t see other patients’ review photos separately at the clinic. I don’t know if that was just me.
And after the consultation, the counter staff felt a little unfriendly. The price for partial incision + eye-opening correction was average to slightly high.
5. ㄷㅍㅇㅅ Only consultation with staff manager (you can also request a doctor consultation, but I just didn’t)
One of those factory-style clinics that anyone living in Busan would know about. I had no intention of doing it there either, but I went because I was curious too. But even though I had a reservation, I think I waited about 30 minutes? It was seriously packed, packed, packed. The age range was the widest here too, and a lot of men came alone, and there were family groups too. I waited on the top floor, then people went down one by one for consultations. I only had a consultation with the staff manager, and they recommended natural adhesion. Honestly, since it’s a factory-style clinic, I expected them to push all kinds of extra procedures, but they didn’t, which was surprising. They also said eye-opening correction probably wasn’t necessary. The line they drew was fine too. But although the staff manager was kind, at first they rested their chin on their hand while explaining (they fixed their posture later) I said I didn’t have a doctor in mind, so they recommended one, and later when I searched ㅂㅂㅌ, it turned out they had only been board-certified for a little over a year. The price here was the cheapest. Maybe because it was only natural adhesion? About half the price of the others? -------------------------------------
For hand research, I strongly recommend looking at this place and the many reviews in the Naver complication-after-surgery cafe ㄱㅇㅅ,, Brokers are obvious if you open the comment collections, so definitely check carefully,, A lot of review photos are heavily edited by the app, so filter them carefully,,
Looking back now, I do wonder if I should have visited a few more clinics. But honestly, before the consultation, the moment I walked into the clinic entrance I got this feeling of “oh, I’m going to get surgery here anyway,” so after the consultation I mulled it over and ended up booking there and getting the surgery done,, I also wanted to go to 경대 ㅈㅇㅊ, but I heard they only do incision, so I didn’t go. I plan to upload the surgery review exactly one month later
