During that time, I was quietly recovering on my own and waiting. I’m still recovering, but I’m so grateful that so many people worried about me and supported me. I’m writing this review to let you know how I’m doing. For now.. because of the swelling, my nasal tip looks bulbous, but..
I’m recovering well.. !!!!
For the revision surgery, I didn’t show photos of the shape I wanted or describe a particular vibe. I just asked them to lower the nasal tip and make it so I could breathe well.
I still need to keep watching it, but..
Nose before revision surgery 1. Pain: a tight, pulling feeling. It felt like a clothespin was clipped on 2. Nasal bridge: became bumpy. The starting point of the nasal bridge became lower 3. Nasal tip: the nasal tip became much higher compared with the nasal bridge. 4. Nasal septum: difficulty breathing (right side). Migraine
They lowered the nasal tip as much as possibleㅜ and since I was worried that scar tissue might form between the skin that had stretched while lowering it, I’m also taking medication for capsular contracture.
It’s surprising because there is almost no swelling with the revision surgery compared with the first surgery.
** After revision surgery, the skin-pulling symptoms improved ** I still need more recovery, but the bumpy nasal bridge has become much smoother, similar to before surgery, and the nasal tip height, which had been disproportionately high like a witch nose, has been lowered a lot. And above all.. the discomfort of my nose pulling and tightening became comfortable immediately after surgery.
After the first surgery, it was hard to close my upper and lower lips too (it was hard to make the “eum-pa eum-pa” lip movement, and I couldn’t whistle at all). Without exaggeration.. I had discomfort every single day, like my skin was being pulled..
I went for follow-up at the hospital where I had my first surgery, and I also had a follow-up at another hospital for the revision surgery. They said the discomfort was because the nasal tip had been raised too aggressively and was pulling, and that it would improve if the height was lowered. Truly, as soon as I had the revision surgery, the discomfort disappeared immediately afterward.. and I could whistle again.. It was so hard for 1 year and 4 monthsㅜㅜ Now it finally feels like the nose that had felt like someone else’s nose has returned to being my own nose
** Fast surgical recovery speed **
Recovery speed (swelling, bruising, etc.) differs depending on individual constitution, but generally, swelling is worst on postoperative days 2–3 rather than on the day of surgery. Major swelling lasts about 1–2 weeks, then minor swelling gradually goes down over 2–3 months, and by 6 months recovery is complete. There can also be differences depending on the procedures performed and the surgery time. For my first rhinoplasty, the surgery took about 4 hours. I had the surgery with a urinary catheter.. inserted..
The revision surgery took about 3 hours. They said the difficulty level was.. fairly high. I heard that, normally, nose surgery takes about 2 hours on average.
In the past, when I worked as a manager at a large hospital, when scheduling nose surgeries, we usually allotted about 2–3 hours including all anesthesia time. The most basic nasal bridge + nasal tip surgery was around 2 hours, and when procedures such as alar reduction or hump correction were added, we scheduled around 2.5–3 hours. Of course, in revision surgery, extra time may be needed depending on the difficulty, and there are doctors whose hands are a bit slower and doctors who are faster, but that is the average time across all such cases, so it may be helpful to keep in mind.
Was it because the first surgery took a long time? I think the recovery speed from the revision surgery was faster. I think the photos will be helpful for reference. The surgical procedures weren’t exactly identical, but for the revision surgery too, I had both functional and cosmetic nose surgery. The recovery speed from the revision surgery feels extremely fast. There is almost no swelling, and almost no bruising..
For reference, during my first surgery, since my home was in Seoul, I went straight home after surgery, kept doing cold compresses, ate porridge, and because it was my first time, I took extra care managing it. During the revision surgery, I only booked a nearby motel for the evening of the surgery day.. I had treatment the next day and then went back to the provinces, so I couldn’t do the compresses properly. The motel’s very small refrigerator and very small freezer compartment.. seemed to not have been cleaned at all, and it was completely full of frost.. so I couldn’t even freeze anything..ㅜ
The longer the surgical area is left open, the more bleeding can occur, and then swelling and bruising last longer. It’s like how you swell more if you have surgery during your period.. so they say it’s best to avoid your menstrual period as much as possible
When I looked at my first surgery, the shape kept settling little by little even after 6 months and up to 1 year. I’ll wait diligently and post reviews from time to time. Thank you everyone for the support.
