Before<Before>After<After>AfterBeforeThis is my review after getting alar reduction at a plastic surgery clinic. - The writer's nose I usually had some nasal bridge height, but my nostrils/alar base were very large, and I had a severe complex about my common "pig nose" shape with almost no columella. I originally planned to get rhinoplasty, but because of constitutional issues, implant insertion, and the long recovery period, I decided on alar reduction, which is a relatively simple surgery. - Reason for choosing the hospital I only visited exactly two places for consultations, and decided to get alar reduction surgery at the third hospital I visited. The reasons I chose this hospital are as follows. 1) Instead of doing surgery uniformly by setting a fixed number of millimeters, the director performs the surgery under local anesthesia while adjusting the design to suit each individual patient 2) There are many reviews and, in proportion to that, many successful cases 3) They specialize in alar reduction
- Surgery and recovery The surgery took about 1 hour, and I think the pain was only a slight numb/tingling feeling for about one day. I diligently took the prescribed medication and applied ice packs, and after about 1 week the major swelling subsided. Usually stitches are removed after about 10 days, but I tend to recover very slowly, so I had them removed a little over 2 weeks later. - Result After about 1 week, much of the major swelling went down, and after stitch removal around 2 weeks later, the residual swelling has been going down and the shape of my nose is gradually settling. For now, I am satisfied with the current state of my nose, but the director said it will become prettier after about 2 months, so I am looking forward to it! I said I wanted it to look natural and suit my face and image, and I think the result matches that. It may be a nose that does not look pretty to someone else, but I am very satisfied because my personal complex has improved and my nose is no longer the first thing people notice on my face.
