Hi? I went around to about 10 places over 2 days because I want rhinoplasty. After going here and there, the decisive difference between relatively young directors, 10 years~+@ vs directors with over 20 years of experience seemed to be whether they take a CT or not?
My nose condition: I need to remove Hiko filler threads.
At the place that took a CT, they said my septum is a perfect septum like something from a textbook. Three directors saw my septum and were amazed lol... It is not deviated, it is large, and from what the directors said overall, they said they would only know after opening it up, but looking at the bones near my nose, the strength seems likely to be firm too.
But at a hospital that does not take CT, Director A (18 years of experience) said it is firm, but my septum seems small...? ㄴThey inserted something that looked like scissors into my nostril and examined inside while shining a flashlight. ㄴWhen I asked, the consultant said the septum size and the usable area may be small. ㄴThis hospital has CT, but they do not take one. ㄴThey said it would be good to take one before surgery. ㄴNo, then why take a consultation fee and still not take a CT? ㄴIf they have it but do not take it, I wondered if CT itself is not meaningful. The consultation fee felt like a waste... It was 20,000 won, and I thought of course they would take CT... ㄴAnd it was the most expensive. And Director B (31 years of experience) did not touch my nose, did not even have me fully take off my mask, only touched my ear, and said because my ear cartilage is soft, there is a high chance my septum is soft too. At this hospital, the priority seemed to be using ear cartilage. So I did like that. But this was the director I had expected the most from, yet the consultation was a bit lacking. Director C (30 years of experience) touched my nasal tip and columella, and said the supporting strength is very good, so the septum should be firm too. This person explained things really in detail and talked well about a plan that suits my nose, ㄴWhat bothers me is that the hospital does not seem to have CT. ㄴLooking at reviews, the line the director prefers is close to a semi-ski-slope line and they prefer a straight-to-semi-ski line, so if it goes wrong, I feel like I could end up with a Gangnam-style beauty look. ㄴThey did not look at the photo references I brought and only looked at my nose, drew a picture, and explained that this shape would be the most ideal for my nose. I am not sure if that is a pro or con haha... It seems the director has a clear aesthetic standard. Still, after listening well to the powerful lecture from someone with 30 years of experience, I do feel drawn to them, but this hospital is usually more of a lip hospital than a nose hospital, so I am not sure... haha. Director D (24 years of experience) Maybe because this person also mainly operates with ear cartilage, they do not take CT. A safety-focused hospital. Since ear cartilage is the main material, I think they may not have specifically taken CT, and I like that ear cartilage is the main material, but it might turn out too natural...? The director was overall calm, and said my ear cartilage seems to have average strength. The remaining hospitals all took CT, and if they took CT, they measured the overall size of my septum and the size of the septum that can be used, and they also consulted for a long time.
It seems that the younger the director, the more they use cutting-edge equipment and use CT and a PC monitor to explain things in a way that convinces patients, while the more experienced ones are a bit calmer, and because they have their own skill, it felt like they push forward with that.
Additional questions for everyone here: Is 13 years of director experience considered little? I am most drawn so far to Director E with 13 years of experience and Director C (30 years of experience).
But if Director E opened a private clinic (operated by 2 doctors) in their 13th year, it seems like they opened it because they have confidence in their own skills. At the same time, compared with Director C's 30 years, 13 years somehow feels lacking in experience. I am the person who got tempted by the cutting-edge equipment of a 13-year director... The 30-year director had impressive speaking skills and explained the principles of a convincing surgical method, but there is a slight chance I could end up with a Gangnam-style beauty look. Director E (13 years) looked through each review one by one on the monitor, recommended a natural straight-to-semi-ski line that best suits my nose, and explained the columella line and nasolabial angle line correction well on the monitor too. Anyway, they explained in a very detailed and meticulous way, and among the younger directors, I liked them the most!! But the price was a bit expensive... 4.84 million? The director with 30 years of experience was 4 million, so when I heard the price, I was like huh?
The quotes from the other hospitals were 3.2, 3.3, 3.0 million, etc., in the low 3-million range, and the hospitals above were representative directors, so they were in the 4-million range. The younger directors were in the 3-million range, but only Director E was 4.84 million won. I am still not sure, so I am planning to visit about 10 more places.
