Facial contouring, 2 procedures (cheekbones, square jaw) review from surgery day to day 2

I’m someone from this community who’s now on day 3 after surgery.. Just like the other reviews said, my face is really, really swollen ㅠ lol I had 2 facial contouring procedures and had them done at Taco! I wanted to help everyone who’s considering facial contouring, so I’m writing my day 1-3 review first ㅎㅅㅎ

Surgery day ㅡ I fasted for 9 hours, arrived at the clinic by 9, and surgery started at 10. It was done under sedation + general anesthesia, and the surgery took about 4 hours. Before surgery, I had read a lot of reviews and kept thinking about how much it would hurt and what kind of pain it would be, so I wasn’t scared of the surgery. I wasn’t even nervous.. I had already accepted the possible side effects when deciding to have surgery, and since the pain was unavoidable(?), when I thought, “Let’s just be in pain!” it felt less scary. ㅡ When I was moved from the operating room to the recovery room, I was out of it, and from then on, the next 6+ hours were painful. (The pain of not sobering up) First, I couldn’t drink water, so the inside of my mouth was like a dry desert. Fortunately, I didn’t bleed much, so 1. I didn’t have a blood drain tube, 2. during COVID, my throat had hurt so, so badly in my life, so 3. the scratchy throat from intubation and anesthetic gas was nothing. 4. Since I had no saliva to swallow, I naturally felt the throat scratchiness less. The hardest part was the process of waking up from anesthesia. They said breathing was important, so I breathed in through my nose and out through my mouth very often, but if I did it too urgently, I could hyperventilate, so the nurse told me to do it slowly once every 30 minutes. (But whenever I remembered, I breathed. Hoping the gas would leave quickly..) My head was dizzy, my stomach felt nauseated and queasy, and my face hurt like someone had hit it.. More than the pain, it was hard being in that “not sober from alcohol” state..! If it had been a real hangover, I could have tried throwing up, rolled around in bed, drunk water, and drunk beverages, but it felt like I had drunk a ton the day before and was lying fixed in bed unable to drink water, so that was the hardest part.. In my head, instead of chanting “wake up from anesthesia, wake up from anesthesia,” I was thinking “sober up, sober up”.. haha

ㅡ I kept getting IV fluids. From time to time, they added a pain-control injection, an expectorant? a stomach protector, and an anti-inflammatory injection. There was a nurse on duty! They gave me water 6 hours after surgery, and after that, I walked over myself with the IV still in and got water. I’m so glad I brought a sauce bottle. My mouth really wouldn’t open, so I squeezed water into my mouth with the sauce bottle!

ㅡ The swelling is getting worse and worse. Bruising under my eyes has already appeared. The nurse said my condition is really good and that I’m not very swollen, but to me, I look like a pufferfish right now ㅜㅜ

ㅡ Right after surgery, I was so, so cold! Thankfully, they turned the heater up high, and at some point my body temperature returned to normal. I think I recover a little quickly!

Day 1 ㅡ I was discharged and came home. I have bruising under my eyes and around my jaw, and I’m very swollen. Bloody phlegm also comes out. When I slept at the hospital, my throat was very scratchy, but now it’s a bit better, and I can drink water from a cup! I can eat things like sweet pumpkin porridge with a small spoon~

ㅡ Every time I take medicine 3 times a day, I eat things like sweet pumpkin porridge or thin rice gruel, and on the night of day 2, I melted chocolate cookies and ate them ㅠ I gargle with Garglin once every 2 hours, and I’m continuously wearing the compression band and using ice packs. I walked for 30 minutes each morning and evening.. I should do more^_^

ㅡ I started speaking little by little from day 1, got better at it on day 2, and today is day 3; aside from my voice being husky, I can speak well!

ㅡ Sleeping is much more comfortable than when I was hospitalized, but I still wake up on and off because of slight coughing and bloody phlegm! I had cold symptoms even before surgery, so I keep having a runny nose, and blood comes out mixed in~ I sometimes swallow the bloody phlegm and sometimes spit it out!

Day 2 ㅡ I’m the most swollen ever! But I can walk around outside, speak well, and I want to eat anything I can swallow~ Today I’m going to try walking a bit more diligently.. I visit the clinic on day 5~ I’ll see how the progress is then and come write another review!

I visited 5 clinics in person. Whether they have CCTV / whether an anesthesiologist is on site / whether they specialize in facial contouring / whether they pursue a natural look or a doll-like line / aftercare I compared them and chose the doctor whose price was reasonable and, more than anything, whom I felt best about! I think in-person consultations are really important.

Since I was twenty, my face shape had been a complex for me, and now that I’ve finally done it, I feel relieved! I’m in my early 30s now, and my friends were really worried at first, but once I actually did it, they encouraged me and said I did well~ (I did it without my parents knowing) I took 4 days of annual leave including the weekend from work. Since I’ll probably stay swollen, I’m planning to work from homeㅠㅠ ..

Like other reviews say.. I hope you really think a lot about whether this is a surgery you need to have, whether it’s absolutely necessary, and make a decision you won’t regret~ Since side effects and things like that are all something I have to accept myself!
