After developing a saddle nose deformity, I underwent reconstructive surgery with an ENT professor. I had surgery to correct the saddle nose and deviated septum (although on CT, the airway? itself looks straight, but the external nose and nostrils are deviated together)..
The problem is that the actually crooked part was left as it was, and only a columellar strut and nasal valve reconstruction were done, making the nose thicker so it would be less noticeable. Also, they performed an unnecessary osteotomy, so my glasses kept touching my eyes until I bought new custom glasses, which caused me a lot of trouble..
So I want to move the nasal bones back to their original position, do a complete removal, and reconstruct the septum. Has anyone had surgery like this?
I’m afraid of going through the same pain again because some doctors who only handle extremely difficult noses, or who are authoritarian, perhaps because of pride, tend to give consultations that are practically perfunctory and then communicate and operate in a semi-dictatorial way. And because of that, if you bring up aftercare/revision, they treat you like a difficult patient nitpicking at a perfect result.... The problem is that because of the downsides if it doesn’t succeed, it feels like far too big of a gamble.
However, after seeing the L-strut extension graft on Professor Dong Eun-sang’s personal site, I felt some hope that if it is made thin and only a unilateral graft is done, it might become somewhat like the shape of my original septum, so I’m curious.
