My personal thoughts about my nose A slightly short nose I have a nasal bridge, but I think the nasal tip is slightly droopy and falls downward I feel there is a bit of distance between the eyes and that my nose itself is slightly large compared with my facial proportions I also think the nasal tip is a little wide, but I think that would be solved if the tip is raised, so I want surgery mainly focused on the nasal tip, and I think it would be good if my nose could become slightly smaller.
Clinic 1. ENT specialist Consultation fee: 5,000 won without CT, 10,000 won if CT is used Because the nasal tip feels slightly low compared with the nasal bridge, the mouth looks slightly protruded. The line itself is good and the nasal bridge is also high, so they recommended only lifting the nasal tip.
If the nasal tip is lifted, the chin will look set back and create more three-dimensionality. However, if it is raised too much, only the nasal tip can protrude in a rounded way and look awkward, so only a natural amount can be added.
Materials are septal cartilage + ear cartilage if insufficient, anesthesia is sedation Since it is not surgery starting from the nasal bridge, the price is the basic nose price, 3 million won (same for cash and card). Surgery time is 2 hours, total 4 hours including anesthesia and recovery time. Stitches removed the next day, splint removed after 5 days, the director checks progress after 3 weeks, and a visit is also made after 3 months for treatment.
The doctor was kind, and when I asked what kind of nose would suit me, they explained many things well. They directly touched my nose while diagnosing and explained while looking at customer before-and-after photos and CT photos.
They also asked if there was anything else I wanted, so I talked about the nasal bridge. When I said the nose itself seemed large compared with my face, they said it could be cut and made smaller, but if that is done the nose can look longer, and since my nose is not very big, I do not really need to do it.
It was my first consultation, and both the consultation details and diagnosis were good. It was also good that the septal cartilage size could be checked by CT, but I felt uneasy because the doctor was an ENT specialist, not a plastic surgery specialist.
Clinic 2 I had the consultation without a fee through an acquaintance connection, and they did not take CT or photos.
The doctor came in and diagnosed while directly touching my nose. The diagnosis was the same as Clinic 1.
The material is artificial dermis (donor dermis). Anesthesia is sedation. Surgery time is 1 hour 30 minutes, about 3 hours 30 minutes total including anesthesia and recovery time. The cost is 3.8 million won for cash, 4.18 million won for card.
First of all, since this is the clinic where an acquaintance had surgery, I do have some trust that they will do it safely and naturally.
They said the surgery only needs to lift the nasal tip, the same as Clinic 1, and if the nasal tip is raised, the chin will look set back and it can give three-dimensionality. However, because my skin is thin, cartilage may show through, so they recommended using artificial dermis.
Here too, they said raising the nasal bridge would make me look like Avatar, so the consultation was in the direction of only raising the nasal tip. However, because I already have a nasal bridge and line, the nasal tip also cannot be raised too high, and they said it would be good to proceed only by slightly raising it and naturally refining the line. I similarly talked about the part where my nose is big, but they said that objectively my nose is not on the large side, so I do not need to do it.
The director was cheerful and we talked in a comfortable atmosphere. When I showed photos of what I wanted, they said this kind of nasal-tip feeling seemed possible. When I asked about inflammation regarding artificial dermis, they said the probability of inflammation is low and that it is like worrying about falling into a manhole.
After consulting with the director, I consulted with the counseling manager. They were kind and the atmosphere was comfortable, but they were so skillful that I ended up placing a 50,000 won reservation deposit (it was not coercion, but they spoke so well that I got swept along by the atmosphere). They said that if I need to change the surgery schedule, it is possible until one week before, and to call anytime.
Clinic 3 Consultation fee 10,000 won, front, side, and 45-degree face photos taken. They objectively analyzed me using the photos taken and also diagnosed while touching my nose.
Materials are septal cartilage + ear cartilage if insufficient, anesthesia is sedation, but the medication amount will be divided, so I am expected to be mentally awake) Surgery time is 3 hours, total 5 hours including anesthesia and recovery time Price is 5.5 million won. Same for card and cash (1 million won cheaper if osteotomy is not done) Visit after two days to remove stitches, visit after one week, and one more visit after three weeks.
The nose diagnosis was the same as Clinics 1 and 2. I have a nasal bridge and the line is also fine, but the nasal tip is slightly droopy. So the nasal bridge cannot be raised, and it would be to raise the nasal tip and refine the line. However, here they first recommended osteotomy, saying the nose itself has a slightly large feeling. I was a little surprised because it was the first time osteotomy was recommended, but when I said other clinics did not recommend it because the nose would become longer, they said here, if anything, raising only the nasal tip could make the nose a little shorter, and the nose length itself is also slightly on the short side, so osteotomy would likely be fine. They also said I do not lack a columella, but it would be good to pull it out slightly for a more refined impression.
The director felt the most sharp-tempered among the three. In the consultation, they explained while showing before-and-after photos of surgical patients with cases similar to mine, so I understood well how the surgery would be done (while looking at the review photos, I felt the director was very skilled). They also said what surgery would be good for my face and nose, explaining that while it would be hard to expect a dramatic effect, they were telling me the directions that could make my current nose as pretty as possible. They also talked about side effects and encouraged me to think carefully.
Conclusion. For now, all three clinics said my nose itself does not have much that needs to be touched from either the front or side, but if I do surgery, they recommend doing the nasal tip. However, they said it may not change much and will be natural, so satisfaction with cosmetic surgery may be low. Still, they said if I am doing it to improve the part I am personally dissatisfied with, I could be satisfied.
The issue is that two clinics said that although my nose is slightly large in terms of proportions, it is not objectively a large nose, and because of the issue of the nose becoming longer, I do not need surgery to reduce the nose. However, the other one clinic said that since my nose is on the short side, that much lengthening is okay, and if I usually do a lot of nose shading, osteotomy would make satisfaction a little higher.
Between Clinics 1 and 2, I was considering Clinic 2 because they mentioned skin show-through and recommended using dermis, and also because my acquaintance had surgery there. But after consulting with Clinic 3, they talked about the parts I had wanted, so I also started wanting to do it there. However, the surgery cost is expensive, and my mom is also somewhat against it because osteotomy is too big a surgery.
I will keep the clinic names private for objective judgment! In this kind of case, please leave comments about what would be good to doㅠㅠㅠㅠ For now, I am thinking of going to about two more places, and I will try leaving reviews afterward too!
