Ridiculously enough, I don’t have major complaints about my appearance. I’m not pretty, but I’m of the mindset that it can’t be helped. But in college, a friend talked me into getting surgery at her dad’s hospital with Gore-Tex, and it got inflamed, so I had it removed after 6 months and only kept the nasal tip.
Even so, I lived like that for over ten years, but you know how there are times when you suddenly feel like you have to do something, anything, like crazy? A time when you need a change. Why did that decision have to end up being rhinoplasty?
I had consultations at three places, and I had revision surgery at a clinic that casually said it was a revision but not very difficult. But my columella ended up completely crooked, and my nose became hard to breathe through. (Ear cartilage + silicone; thankfully, the outer appearance is still somewhat okay.)
I suffered for almost 9 months right after surgery, and at the same hospital they said this time I absolutely had to use autologous costal cartilage, so I had a third surgery with autologous costal cartilage. Today is day 3, and it hurts so much..
Right now, my columella and nostrils are all tilted to the left. (Why?) They said they would put silicone in the nasal bridge, but apparently they finished it with autologous costal cartilage and artificial dermis. (Is this right? I heard using costal cartilage for the whole nose isn’t common..) I’m really worried.
Work is busy, and I also feel self-conscious because I pulled my vacation forward. Please pray that when they remove the splint this time, both the outside and inside are okay.
