These days, I've been enjoying watching the swelling go down, and before I knew it, I am now two months out from double-jaw surgery and facial contouring. I had surgery with Dr. Shin Hee-jin at [Clinic A] Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I originally had fairly severe facial asymmetry, and I was also stressed by how protruding my jaw looked from the side, so I decided to have surgery. I had an orthodontic dental clinic I was already going to, and the doctor there recommended [Clinic A] Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which is how I went in for a consultation. During the consultation, they carefully explained how the surgery would be performed according to my face and occlusion, and because the doctor had extensive surgical experience, I decided to trust them and have it done here.
Around one month after surgery, most of the major swelling had really gone down. I could go outside without a mask by then, so I think that was when life started to feel more manageable, haha. As the swelling subsided, I gradually began to see how my jawline had changed from before surgery. It was clearly slimmer than before, so I kept looking in the mirror for no reason, lol. I was excited to see how it would look once even the residual swelling went down.
Now, another month has passed and I am at the two-month mark. There is still a little swelling inside my mouth! But most of the visible major swelling has gone down, so I do not worry much when going out. I can eat almost anything as long as it is not hard food, which has made things much more comfortable. What I am most satisfied with is that before surgery, my dental occlusion was misaligned because of the asymmetry, so I always used only one side when eating, T_T. After surgery, my molars on both sides fit together well, so I can now chew evenly on both sides, haha. Maybe because eating on one side used to feel so normal, this feels much more fascinating than I expected, lol. I am only two months out from double-jaw surgery and facial contouring, so more swelling still needs to go down and I am still recovering, but I can already see the difference from before surgery. I am even more excited to see how things settle in going forward, haha!!
