Everyone, I brought a one-month review after total rhinoplasty material removal! If you look at my previous post, there is information on the condition of my nose and my review of the total removal, so you will understand. I have also gotten to know people here while talking about various things, and I am curious whether everyone is doing well. Some people said they were curious about the one-month review, so I am writing a few words when I have time.
I had all rhinoplasty materials removed on July 25 and went for my one-month follow-up on September 4. You are probably most curious about that first month. From the day of the total removal, I could do all daily activities: cleaning, laundry, childcare, and so on. As the days passed, they were just ordinary days. My columella healed better than expected, and it is now barely noticeable. It is not dark or red. My columella was originally retracted, so it feels a little more retracted after the total removal, but it healed well and there is no visible problem. People around me cannot even tell I had my nasal materials removed. Personally, when I touch my nasal bridge, the silicone bridge is gone, so that is about when I realize I really did have it removed. From the front and side, I cannot tell anything about the nasal tip. However, when I lift my nose upward or take a photo of my nostrils from below, the vertical length of the columella is somewhat shorter than when auricular cartilage was placed on the nasal tip.
During the month, I only occasionally felt a slight twinge, and the nasal tip is still somewhat firm. Even before suture removal, during the first postoperative week, there was no problem even when I bent my head down. After suture removal, I could bend down and wash my hair. I only took the one-week supply of nasal swelling medication that I bought when I went to get my postoperative medication. Once the sutures were removed, I could keep sleeping on my side. It was easier than I expected, and I do not think I experienced anything like a contracture phase. The inside of my nose was a little dry, so I mentioned it at the one-month follow-up. They prescribed two more tubes of the ointment I had received after surgery and told me to keep applying it inside my nose, saying it could be dry. From about five days before the one-month follow-up, I could also clean inside my nose with tissue. Even now, after applying ointment, when my nose feels a little stuffy or I need to clean it, I use tissue or a cotton swab.
At the one-month follow-up, the director seemed even more pleasant-looking ^^ He welcomed me warmly. I was able to see photos of my nose taken during surgery on the computer, and the doctor checked inside my nose by placing both thumbs into my nostrils. He said it was okay to blow my nose, and from now on, when I have time, I should massage it. He directly showed me how to massage my nose. There was nothing unusual: hold both sides from the bridge to the tip and press, gradually increasing the pressure. He said I should keep doing this so that if I bump my nose later, it will be less firm and hurt less. He said my progress was good, and there was nothing else notable.
After this one-month follow-up, I was told to come back at three months, so I made an appointment for December. I do not have any step-off or anything like that; my bridge is smooth and came out nicely. There is nothing else, so I do not feel a huge difference between before and after removal. When applying makeup, I only slightly notice the area of my nasal bridge; otherwise, nothing is different, lol.
Anyway, I was so flustered during the consultation that I forgot to ask whether I could wear glasses and whether alcohol is okay. I think glasses should be okay after one month from removal, and a few light sips of alcohol may be okay, lol, but I will ask by phone later. In any case, clinics vary by person, and surgery results vary by person too. I hope everyone achieves what they want without worry and stays healthy and happy in body and mind. I am not usually the type to write posts like this, but when I was so frustrated about removal, I looked everywhere for information and found this community. While deliberating for a long time, I wrote posts and exchanged information. Then I met others with a similar surgery date. There were too few reviews of the clinic I chose, so I thought I should help others too and started writing reviews; my style has changed, lol.
Anyway, I am still always very careful with my nose. I only hope I can start massaging it soon and that, with time, it becomes my soft natural nose again!
