This is a revision surgery to lower an incisional sausage double eyelid, and I live outside Seoul. I posted photos a while ago and then deleted them, and today I went for an in-person consultation at ㄱㄴㄷㅌㅇ.
At 2 hospitals, they said excision was possible and that I had enough extra skin, and at 2 other places, they said I didn’t have enough extra skin and that only double-line lowering was possible.
The doctor I consulted today said my extra skin is right at the borderline, so if they do a minimal excision, excision is technically possible.
They said if the extra skin length is 15 mm or less, it’s considered that there isn’t enough extra skin.
For me, one side is 15 and the other is 14, so it’s borderline.
They said it’s exactly an ambiguous case, so rather than taking on the risks of excision, they would recommend doing it safely with double-line lowering.
But compared with people with more severe cases, it’s not a case where only double-line lowering is absolutely possible; both methods are possible, so they told me to choose, and I’m really torn.. I asked whether excision could cause lagophthalmos or mucosal eversion, and they said it wouldn’t be to that extent.
They said it’s true that my line is too long and high compared with my short eye length, so they would reduce it from about 9 mm to around 7.5 mm.
Because the existing scar is too long, they said the end portion will inevitably remain like a wrinkle.
The price difference between excision and double-line lowering is exactly 1 million won.
With the excision method, since the scar is also excised, only one scar can remain when the eyes are closed, but if it goes wrong, it can’t be reversed.
With double-line lowering, the existing scar remains, but it can safely lower the line without the risks from the borderline amount of extra skin.
I’m wondering which method I should chooseㅠㅠ In my heart, I’ve almost decided to have it done at the place I consulted today, but I can’t choose the surgical method...
