This is something I posted on a Naver plastic surgery side effects cafe, and I’m also getting helpful information from this community, so I’m posting it here too!
First, my eyes had full-incision double eyelid surgery, epicanthoplasty, and ptosis correction more than 5 years ago, when I was in high school.
They weren’t uneven, and I liked the line itself! But even after 5 years it kept looking too strong, so I started thinking, ah, this must be sausage eyelids ㅠㅠ
The line is both high and deep compared with my eyesㅜㅜ It looks very obvious. If the rest of my features were glamorous, maybe it would be different, but my face overall is round, so only my eyes look intense.
Some friends got double eyelid surgery after seeing only my before-and-after and thinking mine turned out well, but as I got older, everyone kept asking if I had just recently gotten double eyelid surgery, so it was extremely stressful.
On top of that, the inner corner area of one eye had a “crying” look.
I had severe Mongolian folds, so I got epicanthoplasty, but it still wasn’t improved much (at the time of surgery, the doctor said it would be hard to cut more and that this was the maximum, so I agreed). Since there is already no extra distance between my eyes, additional epicanthoplasty is difficult.
Lower eyelid fat repositioning wasn’t severe, but it had started to bother me a little, and for posterior lower canthoplasty, I wanted my eyes to look longer, so I went planning to just ask about it while I was there.
1. SS (solo doctor) Because my skin is on the thicker side, the plan would be full-incision two-line lowering, lowering the line. The fixation itself was placed too deeply, which is why it became sausage eyelids. The front also has a bit of a hook-like feel, but since it can’t be opened more, they recommended axis rotation (axis rotation: upper epicanthoplasty + epicanthoplasty restoration). Lower eyelid fat repositioning is not something I absolutely need, and posterior lower canthoplasty is something my eyes could benefit from a lot. Double eyelid revision 3.5 million KRW, axis rotation 3.5 million KRW 10% VAT A/S 1 year
Somehow the doctor seemed confident about this thing called axis rotation, but it was my first time hearing of it, and I wondered, are my eyes bad enough to need that..? So I didn’t really feel drawn to it. And it was much more expensive than I expected ㅠㅠ To fix the two problem areas would be 7 million.. I talked with the doctor and they said it could go down to 5 million if I sent all photo reviews, but I didn’t think my eyes were an extreme case, so I wondered if it was overkill.
2. TS (Director J) The line is high compared with my eyes, and it was set strongly and deeply. My current line is 8.5 mm, and they plan to lower it with two-line lowering to around 6.5–7 mm, which would suit my eyes. My upper eyelids looking protruded is also not because of fat, but because my skin is thick and the line is too deep. With upper eyelid fat repositioning, fat would be added to the sunken areas and a little removed from areas with more fat. There is a slight unevenness in the ptosis correction. They plan to correct that. My eye-opening strength is about 75 on the left and 70 on the right, so they would bring both sides to around 80–90. The inner corner “crying” looks like a depressed scar. Epicanthoplasty scar reconstruction is possible, but it looks like it would mostly improve just by lowering the line, so they said to do it only if I really want it. For lateral canthoplasty, there isn’t much space to open the outer corner, so they don’t recommend cutting. If I want it, they recommend posterior + lower canthoplasty in a tying method. Lower eyelid fat repositioning is not in a state where it is absolutely necessary. Double eyelid revision 4.3 million KRW, epicanthoplasty scar reconstruction 1.4 million KRW A/S 1 year
The director’s impression was really good, and they measured everything with various instruments and explained in numbers, so I trusted them more. They measured the line and also measured my eye-opening strength? Since the first place said I needed so many things, I was mentally shaken, but I did recover here. Still, hearing unexpected talk about ptosis correction and that the epicanthoplasty area was a scar suddenly made me troubled again...
3. OOO (solo doctor) - consultation fee 10,000 KRW It became like this because the line is too strong and deeply set, so it just needs to be released and lowered. The scar tissue at the inner corner is because the epicanthoplasty and double eyelid surgery should have been connected smoothly, but that wasn’t done, so it looks like it’s crying. It’s not really a scar; even just redoing the double eyelid should mostly improve it. Upper epicanthoplasty not needed. Posterior lower canthoplasty is not recommended because there is a chance of causing scleral show. Ptosis correction will be checked during surgery and done if it seems necessary. Lower eyelid fat would definitely have an effect, but it’s not at a level where it needs to be done extensively. Double eyelid revision 4.4 million KRW A/S 3 years
The director’s voice was very soft and quiet. I went because they’re said to be famous for good suturing. The 10,000 KRW consultation fee is steep, but since they’re famous, I just went. When you go in, they take photos of your eyes and then you go into the consultation room. Looking at the surgery photos, they really did seem skilled. I had never seen such fine suturing on eyes before, so I felt like if I did it here, the marks really wouldn’t be severe. Seeing photos of someone similar to me, it was barely noticeable even with eyes closed, so I was somewhat drawn to it. Other clinics talked about scars or even axis rotation, so I was mentally crushed, but here they said everything would improve just by redoing the double eyelid, so honestly, if I could get the money together, I planned to do it here. But when I searched again on the Naver cafe and this community, I started wondering.. Some clinic reviews said the style is old-fashioned? They said they specialize in extreme eyes, but rather than young women.. I started thinking maybe it’s a style that suits somewhat older people. So I lost interest.
4. JOJO (English, Director H) The double eyelid line is high and strong, so it can be released, lowered, and reset. The epicanthoplasty and double eyelid line are separate, so the inner corner area looks like it’s crying; this is something that improves if the line is re-created through revision surgery. Even if I do posterior lower canthoplasty, it doesn’t feel like scleral show would become severe. The outer corner would be incision, the lower part would be a tying method. For lower eyelid fat, after repositioning, fat could be added to the anterior cheek area. Double eyelid revision 3.3 million KRW A/S 3 years
They seemed confident in what they said and clearly addressed the parts I was worried about. This was a clinic I just went to last, so I didn’t go in knowing much about it. Like OOO, they said if only the double eyelid line is re-created, the inner corner won’t be a problem, so I felt a bit relieved. For lower eyelid fat, unlike other doctors, they talked about fat in the anterior cheek area, so I wondered if that was why.
I wrote this a year ago, so I don’t really remember the waiting times or consultation times ㅠㅠ But at all 4 places, the nurses and doctors were kind, and the facilities seemed good too?? But there wasn’t anywhere that made me think “this is definitely it,” so since I didn’t feel like doing it at any of the 4 places, I didn’t.
It’s my first time posting a consultation review in this community, so if there’s anything problematic, let me know and I’ll delete itㅠㅠㅠ
