I had an appointment at 2~ The director is kind of Winnie-the-Pooh style~ I was worried because reviews of ㅁㅌ were love-it-or-hate-it, but to start with the conclusion, I really liked the honest consultation~
In December, I had silicone plus donated costal cartilage rhinoplasty at a plastic surgery clinic in Apgujeong. It was my 4th surgery~ Before that, I had surgery three times with silicone only, but all three times it became crooked, so I had been living in a totally given-up state, then had revision surgery after ㅣㅇ years~
Thankfully the silicone is fixed right in the center, and following the current trend I had donated costal cartilage for the nasal tip, but because it was too hard, had a foreign-body sensation, and made it hard to breathe, I decided on revision. Last week I consulted at ㅊㅁ (I personally didn’t like it), and this time I consulted at ㅁㅌ~
Director ㅇㅎㅅ is a completely honest type~ When I said I feel electric sensations in my nose and have tenderness, he said that’s a difference in individual sensitivity, and it won’t improve just because I do revision surgery. Instead, it may disappear after 1 year, or some people may continue to have itㅜㅜ (in short, a difference in individual mentality?! maybe??) He said I’m sensitive and that from his view there isn’t really a problem~ (But ㅊㅁ said that too~)
Instead, he said if I remove the donated costal cartilage and get functional rhinoplasty, my breathing function would definitely improve~ But the shape change would be similar to now (for me, the shape is... so-so, naturally done, so it’s okayㅋ) Instead, if I want the bridge higher, he can make it higher. Surgery method: sedation for 5-10 minutes, local anesthesia, total 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes.
For me, after removal, silicone would be inserted again (I really have no nasal bridge), so removal plus revision surgery + functional surgery, and he said it would be a fairly complicated(?) surgery.
Removal + silicone (he said if I like the existing shape, he washes and reuses itㆍ ㆍ Mine was a custom implant, so I paid more than regular silicone) + septal cartilage or ear cartilage to prevent nasal tip collapse (because the donated costal cartilage is being removed) = ㅇㅇㅇ won
Functional rhinoplasty (radiofrequency? + nasal valve?? Ahㆍㆍit’s hardㆍㆍ) = ㅇㅇㅇ won The cost was quite a bit~ㅎㅎ
But the decisive thing the doctor said was, “Do you really have to do this?? In my view, there’s nothing wrong with you, and scar tissue will go down more up to 1 year to 1 year and 6 months~” (I’m now 5 months) He said breathing is also something we’ll know after more time passes~ (But it really has gotten better than at first) He told me not to think about it too sensitively~ And asked if I can’t just live with the donated costal cartilage being a bit hard~
WowㆍㆍI was completely moved hereㆍㆍ My older sister was in Spain and rushed back to Korea because of me, and went to the consultation with me. She said Director ㅇㅎㅅ is really accurate and clean-cutㆍㆍ The director told me to go home and think about it slowly some more, and just check the price with the consultant before leaving~ I thanked him and came out^~^
The surgery fee was quite highㅋ But honestly, I don’t care about the cost (of course, the original hospital also said they’d do revision if I’m uncomfortableㆍㆍI just want to do it somewhere else) My immediate goal was improving breathing function, but since the doctor told me to watch it a bit longer, I’m going to try holding out for ㅣ year~
Also, someone said ㅁㅌ has brokers, but in my view, there aren’t any. I’m the type who only pays in cash, so I asked if they give a cash discount (I got a cash discount in Apgujeongㅋ), and they said there’s no such thing and they don’t do reviews either. Instead, they said if I book now or allow the hospital to mosaic my eyes and use it for consultations, they’d discount 200,000 won. Of course I said noㅋ I also refused the 1 million won review discount at ㅊㅁㅋ
