Hi guys, as you can tell from my posts, I was looking into alar reduction for my nostril wings (wide nasal base, slightly asymmetrical, different starting and ending positions of the alar wings on the left and right), and after watching YouTube, I booked a consultation and went all the way from Busan to Seoul.
To start with the conclusion, the doctor kindly consulted with me and said my nose did not need surgery. Anyway, it was really good, so I am leaving a review.
Usually, other clinics might recommend procedures or surgery that are not even necessary.
But from the consultation with the consultant, they did not force anything on me and did a good preliminary consultation so I could talk with the doctor in the direction I wanted.
The doctor also told me to hold the mirror, and we brought the alar wings together in the direction we both wanted. They showed me an expected result with Photoshop and asked me to come next to the doctor's seat,
then explained while looking at the monitor... Honestly, it was my first time in my life going to a plastic surgery clinic for a consultation.
They gave me an extremely honest and refreshing consultation, and they just told me not to do it, so I came back without doing it.
My alar shape is a bit like / ), and I went because I wanted to bring the base together more and make it look like ( ).
But they said that even if I did it, my nostrils could become smaller and make breathing difficult, and the effect might not be satisfying compared with having the surgery.
So I just gave up and came out...
I had saved all the nostril photos on a tablet PC that matched the type of nose I wanted and showed them,
and they looked through them carefully..... They said people are naturally asymmetrical on the left and right, and it really was not that strange.
They explained that what I wanted to do now was like someone who is 180 cm tall wanting to become 185 cm and wanting height-increase surgery.
That said, I personally do not think my nose is really pretty or anything, but when judging whether it is asymmetrical or not,
they said it was symmetrical enough to be in the top 10%, and that flaws look bigger in one's own eyes.
Anyway, it was my first plastic surgery clinic, and I do not know if it is because I went in scared and with only a bad impression of plastic surgery clinics,
but I liked it so much that I am writing this for reference. Seriously, for real, 100%, I have never received even a single 10-won coin, and I am completely unrelated.
I wanted to tell you all so you can keep it in mind if you ever get a consultation, and I am also grateful to that doctor who responded so conscientiously and kindly...
I went up with my wife saying I wanted to reduce my alar width, but in the end we came back after deciding to just improve my skin, so I felt really good.
Expecting this possibility, actually not the possibility that I would not need it, but the possibility that I would not do alar surgery right away because it was too expensive, I also forcibly made a dermatology appointment before going. It was for acne papular scars... I could not find a clinic in Busan that mentioned papular scars. I made an afternoon appointment at Irvine Dermatology in Yeouido and went,
and I think it was good that I made the appointment in advance. I had the dermatology consultation and plan to receive treatment later.
For now, I definitely recommend getting a consultation at the plastic surgery clinic!! I am not saying to do it there, but Seoul must be full of money-hungry plastic surgery factory clinics that churn people out, so I am writing this with the heart of a friend hoping you look into things carefully.
