Before <before removal> After <after removal> After <implant, scar tissue, thick capsule> Hi haha After my immediate post-removal review and day-5 review, I’ll leave a 1-month review! Because of the nature of this board, I can’t reveal the clinic, so I hope you understand :) If you look at the posts I left, you should be able to figure it out well enough! (If you really can’t, send me a message! haha)
1) Nose condition I had a 14-year-old L-shaped silicone implant + some strange dermal material called Permacol in my nasal tip. After surgery, I had side effects like yellow discharge coming out and my nasal bridge swelling up a lot, so I lived with it for 14 years feeling like I had a ticking time bomb in my nose ㅠㅠ There had been no manipulation of the nasal tip, but because of the old implant, the skin on my nasal bridge had become very thin, and I gradually felt like my nostrils were becoming more visible, so I started looking into removal.
2) Clinic I really hated the idea of leaving anything inside my nose, so I searched around for clinics that absolutely perform complete removal & capsule removal! Everyone, when choosing a clinic, think carefully about whether you will leave the nasal tip as is, whether you want complete removal like me, and whether you want to leave the capsule behind before choosing a clinic!
3) Surgery It was sedation anesthesia + local anesthesia! Because of an underlying condition, a long anesthesia time felt burdensome for me, so this anesthesia method suited me very well! Also, I gradually woke up during the surgery, and although I felt hazy, I could actually feel that the doctor was suturing carefully haha and they even checked the taping, so I wasn’t scared. During the surgery, I wasn’t scared at all, and if I had to pick something that hurt, I think stitch removal stung more lol
4) After surgery - Immediately after surgery: The director came to the recovery room and told me the surgery went well, and said we should monitor it because my skin is thin! Later, the consultant came and showed me photos from during the surgery. I confirmed the alar cartilage that had been distorted by the old implant, and I could also see photos of the restoration and repositioning they did! Even just from the photos, you can see the massive L-shaped silicone, scar tissue, and thick capsule, right...? Personally, I think the capsule was removed really well ㅠㅠ Leaving that inside the nose would be horrifying... - Bruising and swelling: The major bruising continued even after a week! Most of it was yellow bruising, so it could be covered with concealer, and for the blood-red bruising, I put on a bandage and went to work one week after surgery haha The swelling went down a lot after splint removal, and then went down a lot again after the internal stitches were removed! Time really is the best medicine haha Right after splint removal, the nose is pressed down by the splint, so it can look like an Avatar nose, but don’t be alarmed! As time goes by, the nasal bridge that was hidden in the swelling becomes slimmer and looks better!
5) Contracture period Around one week after surgery, I felt tightness and a sharp tingling sensation in my nose. There were no symptoms like a change in shape, and after that I had that sharp sensation one more time, but I thought it must be part of the recovery process, so I didn’t feel too anxious! Those sensations have disappeared now, and I hope I recover well :)
6) Nose shape One-line summary: It’s a third version of my nose! I think my operated nose was okay until around year 7, but as time went on, I didn’t like it because it seemed to have become deformed. Now that it’s removed, I really, really like my nose! I’m only at one month, so the minor swelling will keep going down, but it’s even prettier than my natural nose haha Especially the side profile!! My friends also said that unless I specifically tell them, they can’t really tell, but my image has become gentler, and they said removal seems muuuuuuch better!
7) Other Because it was removed through an open approach, the scar area is still red! I was told it would be quite red until the one-month mark, so I’m not worried about this part haha I haven’t applied any ointment separately, and I think it healed well! Before surgery, the director explained all the possible side effects that could happen to my nose haha They said that because of the old implant, my nasal bridge could become uneven, my nose could become upturned, the nasal bridge could become indented, or pigmentation could occur due to the thinned skin. I think there is some slight pigmentation left on the nasal dorsum! But it’s only noticeable to me and not enough to bother me much? Fortunately, I haven’t had any other side effects so far, so I’m very satisfied!
Even though I wonder if more swelling can really go down from here, there is still minor swelling left, so I think I’ll only know after watching it for 6 months to 1 year! Still, I got a lot of help from reviews in this community, so I wanted to help too and left this long post :)
