Hi, if you came to this post, it means you were stressed about a bulbous nose as much as I was and are thinking about rhinoplasty, right? I know that feeling so well, and it is hard to tell clinics and information apart... I felt the same way.
It has been more than a year since my surgery, and I am happy with the shape, so I will share my review. I hope it helps other women with similar bulbous noses. Starting now.
1. Reason for surgery - I did not want my nose to look overly done or like one of those mass-produced noses, so when I was 20 I had surgery just to raise the bridge height. (I was aiming for a natural look.) I was okay with the height, but my wide nostrils still bothered me so much and made me irritated. At the time of my first surgery, there were not many reviews about nostril reduction, and since it involves cutting the nostrils, I could not go through with it because I was worried about side effects. Then I managed to save up some money, and I decided to have revision surgery while I was still as young as possible. There were also a lot more reviews about nostril reduction by then.
2. Before surgery - I got recommendations from all over, and after making a list of clinics from places I saw in this community, places whose before-and-after comparisons matched my taste in the surgeon's aesthetic sense, and so on, the list grew huge. So first I narrowed the consultation candidates down as much as possible. About 5 places. I went to consult at the places I had narrowed down, and I decided to have surgery at the place I was most satisfied with in terms of the surgeon's aesthetic sense, price, and aftercare. Later I found out that it was actually a clinic I had checked out when I was 20 and going around in person. If I had met the right nose surgeon earlier, I would not have needed revision surgery, tsk.
3. After surgery - I did not want my overall image to change, and I asked for a nose that would be natural but also not so understated that the nostril reduction effect would be too weak, and not so low in the bridge that it would look too plain... and because the surgeon has a strong aesthetic sense, the result came out exactly right and I was completely satisfied. In fact, there was one hurdle before I could meet this nose. On the third day, I went in for a checkup, and I was already someone who swells easily, so I was just thinking, well, it is a lot of swelling. Then the surgeon examined it, said it seemed like a hematoma had formed, gave anesthesia on the spot, and performed a procedure to remove the pooled blood. It could have been dangerous... wow. In any case, I was satisfied because they were thorough with follow-up care and progress checks. Since many clinics become rather indifferent once you pay and the surgery is over, I had been worried. Even during the consultation, there was no excessive friendliness or pushy pressure to book, and instead of forcing me, they said I did not need any unnecessary procedures and pointed out the parts that had bothered and irritated me, which seems to have led to a good result. It felt like the parts that bothered me and the parts that bothered the surgeon were the same. The surgeon had also done a lot of nostril reduction procedures, so I could do it with more peace of mind. They looked at my nose and said how much should be removed, and did it that way. There is no discount or anything for writing a review; I am just satisfied with my nose and hope this can be useful information. I also had the experience in the past of looking at review photos one by one and agonizing over which clinic and which surgeon to choose, so I want to help other women with similarly wide nostrils even a little.
