I had the surgery in January 2021, so it’s been over 2 years now.. I had a protruding mouth + a retruded chin, so after looking into it a lot, at first I thought I just needed ASO surgery and genioplasty advancement. But when I went for a consultation at an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic, they said I was a double-jaw surgery case ㅠㅠ After thinking it over, I had a consultation at a university hospital and decided to have the surgery. They said ASO surgery wasn’t possible because my airway was narrow, so even though there was no problem with my teeth alignment, I decided to do preoperative orthodontics first and then have surgery. I did extraction orthodontic treatment for about a year. Then I had the surgery. It wasn’t as painful as I expected, but the first month was really, really hard ㅠㅠ The hardest part is not being able to eat, so before surgery, make sure to eat plenty of whatever you want most... You’ll lose weight quickly anyway after surgery, so don’t bother dieting for no reason ㅜ In the end, the surgery was successful, and although my temporomandibular joint became weaker, all my sensation came back and I have no side effects! It’s the surgery I’m most glad I did.
