Clinic name: Lavian Plastic Surgery Consultant: Director Jeong Jae-young Consultation fee: Free (CT was also free)
This is the clinic where I booked my surgery, and it seems like quite a few people are looking into it, so I wrote down whatever I could remember in case it might help...!
[Consultation with the consultant (1)] The inside of the clinic was clean and had a quiet atmosphere~ After filling out the chart and waiting about 10 minutes, I had the consultation with the consultant. She had me take off my mask, tuck my hair behind my ears, and checked the areas to be discussed. Both cheekbones were originally asymmetrical, and I had surgery last year, but I told her the asymmetry did not improve at all and actually became more noticeable.. She wrote all of that down on the chart. She was very kind and good at small talk, and she said I could ask anything I was curious about before seeing the director, so I asked some simple questions first. We had a short conversation, then I took a CT scan and went straight into the consultation with the director.
[Consultation with the director] He asked me to tuck my hair behind my ears, then had me hold a hand mirror and look straight ahead. He touched my face while explaining the problems. He also reviewed the CT images with me, and said many people come for revision surgery because of cheekbones like mine. He said he would reduce and fix the posterior cheekbone as well, and reduce the more protruding side a bit more. Although it is revision surgery, he said that fortunately a case like mine is not such a difficult surgery. I knew the clinic was also well known for temple reduction surgery, so I asked how it would be to do it together. From the director’s perspective, he said it was not really necessary, but if I wanted a little more effect, it would be okay to do it together. He did not just explain verbally; he pressed and palpated the cheekbone, and brought out a facial skull model? to explain the surgical method, so I understood it clearly. I also liked that he placed his index finger upright against my face and told me it would reduce by about that much. His tone was calm and gentle, and maybe because he has a lot of revision surgery experience, every word really resonated with me.
[Consultation with the consultant (2)] To wrap up, I had another consultation with the consultant. She reviewed the director’s consultation notes, explained everything once more, and we finished after going over questions I had not asked earlier and their answers. She said there would be no additional costs besides the surgery fee, and she explained everything without me having to ask first, including on which postoperative days I would need to visit, and what kinds of aftercare they provide. (Radiofrequency, swelling laser, shampoo, mask pack, exfoliation care, etc.) Since it is revision surgery, I was worried recovery might be slower or it might hurt more, but she said the swelling may go down a little more slowly, but it does not mean revision surgery is automatically extremely painful or anything like that, so that was a relief ㅠㅠ
Also, something that stood out compared with other clinics was that one-on-one KakaoTalk conversations with the director are possible. Of course, the director has the clinic schedule too, so I would not be able to exchange messages in real time, but I liked that I could ask the director by message about progress-related concerns that would not necessarily require visiting the clinic in person.
Anyway, I had a lot of concerns until the final decision, but I just booked with Lavian, which I had felt sure about from the beginning. When I saw photos of someone who had revision surgery for almost the same reason as me, the result looked pretty and well done. Maybe because he has a good eye, he seems good at correcting asymmetry too.. Since it is revision surgery, I do not think I can help being nervous. I should pray for good results ㅜㅜ
