6-Month Review of Male Named Nose Surgery

It’s already been almost 6 months since my surgery. I left a review at the 3-month mark, and back then they said swelling would keep going down until 6 months, and it really does seem like a bit more swelling has gone down. After meeting in person for the consultation, it wasn’t just something you could feel from YouTube; they explained in a very detailed way how to get as close as possible to my personal needs and aesthetic goals while still staying realistic. I didn’t originally have a very prominent hump, but I wanted to raise my nose as much as possible up to my limit while still creating a hump-like impression. (I thought that if you want to make it feel naturally like your own nose, there needs to be some hump, and that was true even with the recent trendy Chinese-style noses.) In other places, if you want to raise it a lot, they would probably say you have to make it straight with no hump at all and a sharply pointed tip, but Director Lee Byeong-jun seemed to share my sense of aesthetics, so he said it should look like an actor’s or celebrity’s nose, naturally as if it were my own, and that within those limits, the goal should be to raise it as much as possible. Hearing that made me feel reassured, because I wasn’t worried it would end up with that so-called overdone surgery look. I didn’t have enough of a hump to make a real hump appearance, but the overall nose still came out looking naturally like my own. The bridge was done with 4.5 mm silicone, and the tip was done with autologous costal cartilage plus ear cartilage. I thought it looked natural at 3 months too, but now that it is approaching 6 months, it has completely settled in to the point where I could really say it is my original nose. As I also wrote in the 3-month review, when the splint first came off, I thought, ‘Huh... it doesn’t look as high as I expected... is this right?’ But as the swelling went down over one and two months, it definitely became more defined and looked higher, and now, approaching 6 months, it is even more distinct and the lines are much cleaner than before. The columella has come down completely too, and the impression of my face has clearly changed. And at 3 months there was still a slight pulling sensation in the nose and a bit of foreign-body discomfort, but by the 6-month mark, all of that is completely gone. Picking my nose (lol) is now fairly comfortable, and in daily life I don’t really think about the fact that I had nose surgery. What’s most surprising is that around 6 months, you really can’t tell whether I had surgery or not. Just looking at me, nobody knows, and only people with a sharp eye will casually ask, ‘Your nose is so pretty, did you have surgery?’ If I say I didn’t, they believe it immediately, because it came out so naturally. That is exactly the direction I wanted from the beginning, so I’m really satisfied. People around me started saying things like, ‘You seem to have lost a lot of weight,’ ‘Your face looks slimmer,’ and ‘Your features are more distinct,’ and even now, 6 months later, I still hear those things. My nose was my biggest complex, so I used to try hard to take front-facing photos instead of side-profile photos, but now I actually prefer side-profile photos. As for pain, I wrote about this in the 3-month review too, but to repeat it: maybe because the director is so skilled, I was only uncomfortable for about 1 day when the nasal packing came out, and the autologous rib pain lasted only about a week before disappearing quickly, so those pains were forgotten long ago. When I read other cosmetic surgery reviews, there were many scary comments saying the swelling and autologous rib pain are really unbearable, but for me it was not hard at all. With the rib graft, the only discomfort was that for 1 to 2 weeks I had to wear an abdominal binder to sleep, and I had to be careful when lying down or getting up because of the sharp pain. Of course, now none of that discomfort remains. I was already very satisfied at 3 months, but now that it is approaching 6 months, the nose has become even more defined and natural than it was then, so my satisfaction has gone up even more.
