Before <nose before surgery> After <side photo taken during treatment on day 3> After <day 5, today!> Hi hi! I'm the person who had nose surgery last Wednesday, 3/29 (Wed)! I had a nose that was short and small, with a low nasal tip! So I did a lot of online research here and there, went around for in-person consultations, made a reservation, waited about a month and a half, and finally got the surgery haha
First of all, ever since my early 20s, when my mom kept looking at my nose and telling me to get my nose done (I'm 30 now), I'd been thinking about it, and this time I finally made up my mind, did proper online and in-person research, and got it done!
The reason I chose the hospital was partly because, before going around for consultations, I had read one director's blog, and when I went for the consultation, they said about my nose, 'If we put in ear cartilage, it will get lower later and you'll end up needing revision surgery, so I recommend autologous costal cartilage. Even so, if you want ear cartilage, I won't stop you, but I recommend autologous costal cartilage,' and somehow that made me trust them....(??) or whatever, I liked it lol I really felt like they understood my nose well, so I think that's why I booked there! Most other places just said they'd do it with ear cartilage...!
So I went ahead with the surgery, and finally had it done last Wednesday, 3/29 (Wed) haha That intro got long
First, my surgery was booked for 9, and I arrived right at 9! When I went in, the director greeted me right away, took photos of my nose, and we talked one last time about my nose. Before that, the planned surgery was to use autologous costal cartilage to raise the nasal tip, and since I had a bit of my own nasal bridge, to proceed without an implant for the bridge. But when we talked on the day of surgery, I said I still wanted even a thin silicone implant in the bridge, and they listened to my request, so we decided to proceed with the thinnest silicone for the nasal bridge + autologous costal cartilage for the nasal tip + ear cartilage for the step-off area between them!
After finishing that consultation, I went into surgery prep. I signed the surgical consent form, paid, changed clothes, and so on, and as soon as everything was done, I went straight into surgery with no waiting time GOGO haha
Oh, I have... a lot of fat on my abdomen... so the director thought harvesting costal cartilage would be difficult and suggested general anesthesia, but my mom said she would absolutely not allow it if I had general anesthesia, so we proceeded with sedation anesthesia!
So I went into surgery, had sedation anesthesia, and they harvested the costal cartilage, but I woke up in the middle haha and just zoned out... For everyone here with a lot of fat, I recommend general anesthesia...(If you're curious what it was like, leave a comment and I'll tell you,...)
Anyway, after the harvest, I had a short rest(?) time, and then went straight into nose surgery.
So I had sedation anesthesia again, and I woke up in the middle again, so they did sedation anesthesia one more time! It was a little??? hard during the surgery, but for me it was bearable. The surgery time took just under 4 hours in total!
The director told me the surgery went well, then I lay down on a bed, came to my senses, came out, heard the instructions on what to do at home, and went home hehehoho Oh, I had an enormous amount of splinting and taping lololol
Anyway, I went home, ate, and fell asleep sitting up. Because my nose was packed with cotton, it was really hard, but I think my rib pain was worse ㅠㅠ My nose was really bearable?? (LASIK was harder, for real) Still, the rib pain was also okay if I was just careful. I went out for walks and walked a lot too
But after sleeping and one day passed, my face and eyes got seriously swollen ㅠㅠ I couldn't see my eyes, so I tried to go to work but eventually couldn't, and I just kept walking for exercise and did lots of face massage with a face roller + cold compresses! After that, it was okay the next day haha
Then on Friday, 3/31, I had the nasal cotton removed and the splint removed too, and they only did taping. Since the nasal cotton was removed, I diligently applied the ointment I received and put cotton soaked with plenty of Vaseline into my nose. They said the wounds inside shouldn't scab over... because it would scar. So I diligently put in cotton with Vaseline on it, yep..
Anyway, then on Saturday I went to the hospital once more for treatment, and yesterday, Sunday, I again did lots of face massage + cold compresses + a ton of walking haha
And finally today is day 5, so I removed the taping and washed my face too!!!!!!!!! So this is my review of the past roughly 5 days haha
I'm not good at writing, so I wrote this all over the place... There's still swelling, so it hasn't settled yet, but I want to hurry and write a review about the process of it settling! Thanks for reading
