Eye Surgery review at Gangnampeoseuteu (강남퍼스트) · 2022-05-27

I had surgery in early April. This was the hospital I had the highest expectations for after researching everywhere, but the consultation was short and they only designed the line for one eye, which surprised me a bit. (It was fine that they didn’t recommend anything other than the surgery I wanted, since they didn’t seem to do overtreatment or push recommendations.) Still, I thought there must be a reason they’re famous, and after comparing with other hospitals I booked here. On the day of surgery, I thought I would first design the line in the consultation room and then go into the operating room, but after washing my face and changing clothes I was taken straight into the operating room, which surprised me again. After waiting a little, the director came in, and I sat on the operating table while they started the design. But even during the design, rather than asking for my opinion, they judged it themselves and made a line they thought was good. The left-eye line they marked wasn’t bad, but they designed the right eye without even showing me a mirror, so I became anxious... Of course, part of that was because I didn’t actively ask to see it or say, “Please do it like this,” but the design was over very quickly, and after I lay down on the operating table I kept thinking, “Huh, is this really right...?” I couldn’t picture how the result would turn out, so I felt even more uneasy. After a short sleep anesthesia, they woke me up and started the surgery. What I liked was that during surgery they focused only on the operation and didn’t chat idly with the nurses. During surgery I just kept brainwashing myself with thoughts like, “Let’s just trust the director and stay calm” After surgery I received a recovery kit and prescriptions. Thankfully, when I looked at the line right after surgery, it was very neat and I liked it, and the swelling seemed to go down quickly for an incision procedure. But as a few days passed, the swelling in the left eye went down more slowly than the right, and after removing the stitches it became even more obvious, so the left looked like a higher, uneven eye. On top of that, I wasn’t getting used to the operated eye, it didn’t seem to harmonize with my original face, and I started noticing other downsides, so honestly I thought at that point it had failed. I called to say it was uneven and got an urgent follow-up. When I explained the situation to the director, they said only two weeks had passed so it was too early to judge the result, and that they had tried their best to match the symmetry, so it would get better. I wanted to hear more, but it seemed they had another surgery consultation before mine and the consultation ended in a hurry, which was disappointing again. After about a month, the swelling in the left eye that had not gone down started to gradually subside, and although there is still a slight asymmetry, it doesn’t stand out much so I’m satisfied. (My left eye originally had weaker opening strength than the right and was smaller, so I think that also played a part.) Also, at first the fixation felt so deep that it felt like I had ptosis correction, and I was uncomfortable looking straight ahead or upward, but now, 50 days later, that discomfort is gone. In the end, people around me also say it turned out naturally and well. But now I just hope this line lasts. Since I only had an incision and didn’t get canthoplasty, I do feel a little regret about that, but I’ll think about it later and do it then if I feel I need it! [Summary] 1.
