I’m having it done at a university hospital, and because my upper jaw is narrow, they’re first expanding my maxilla with an orthodontic appliance. They said I’ll probably need to have all 4 wisdom teeth extracted, undergo orthodontic treatment for about 1 year, have the surgery, and then need another year or so of orthodontic treatment after surgery. Double-jaw surgery is really difficult and risky, but a protruding lower jaw has been a complex of mine for a long time, so I made up my mind and decided to go through with it. I’m nervous. Whew.
