I had surgery for a deviated septum at the ENT department of a university hospital, and at the same time I wanted to improve the cosmetic aspect, so I asked them to raise my low nasal bridge and had rhinoplasty. After that, about 4 years passed without me really noticing it, and at some point my nose gradually became upturned, my nostrils became visible, and my columella looked collapsed, so I started looking for a hospital to improve this. Through a community, I found plastic surgery clinics specializing in revision rhinoplasty and chose a few candidate hospitals. Among them was RU Plastic Surgery, and after watching the hospital’s YouTube channel and looking at the website, seeing Director Kim Hyun-joo’s values and photos after rhinoplasty, I thought it suited me best and made a reservation. I decided to have revision surgery for my short nose and low nose. Autologous costal cartilage was used to build a strong support pillar, and silicone was used on the nasal bridge to shape it. Right after rhinoplasty, I had almost no pain-related suffering, and in many ways it was not as difficult as I expected. There were many reviews saying the area where the costal cartilage is harvested hurts a lot, so I was a little worried, but aside from a slight throbbing, it did not feel painful. From after surgery until the next day, because of the hemostatic cotton placed inside my nose, I had to breathe through my mouth, so breathing was difficult, my mouth became dry, and my throat hurt. The repeated process of continuously wiping away runny nose and reapplying ointment, and having to keep taking medication three times a day, was annoying. After one week, I had the stitches in the columella area removed, and I was surprised because the incision site was so clean. I thought it was at a level where it was barely noticeable for just one week post-op. After removing the splint and about 2 weeks had passed since surgery, my nose seemed to be settling more and more, and the shape looked natural, which felt amazing. Before surgery, my nose was very low, so I keep thinking, how did it get raised like this? There is still some swelling on the nasal bridge, but I’m looking forward to seeing how it will look once all the swelling goes down. The frontal nostril show and the dish-shaped side profile that had been my complex seem to have been completely improved, so I’m satisfied.
