Nose Surgery Reviews

Review of Revision Rhinoplasty (Columella, Nasolabial Angle, Alar Correction)

I had rhinoplasty using a silicone implant and ear cartilage, but as time passed, the changes in my nose shape became noticeable, so I decided to have revision rhinoplasty. My skin may have become thinner, because the step-off from the silicone on the nasal bridge became more severe, and since only ear cartilage had been stacked without a columellar strut, the nasal tip gradually drooped downward, so I wanted to improve it.

Since I had simply had my first surgery at a hospital introduced by an acquaintance... this time, I really did my research both online and in person. I compared clinics with the surgeon’s experience and aesthetic sense, postoperative care, and expertise in autologous costal cartilage as my main priorities, and RU Plastic Surgery fit my standards exactly.

Because my nose was large to begin with, I told them that I really did not want it to become any larger from here, and Director Kim Hyun-joo also agreed that my nose did not need the tip to be raised further.

The silicone had been inserted too short and thin, so we decided to replace it with something slightly thicker, remove all the existing nasal tip materials, and correct the sunken and retracted columella by building up the columella with costal cartilage. I was also considering alar reduction and added it on the day of surgery haha.

The swelling went down quickly, and with revision surgery, as time passed, the swelling on the nasal bridge also went down a lot, and the columellar line became much more natural! The scar line is also gradually improving, so I’m looking forward to it. The autologous costal cartilage incision site is also healing cleanly, so I’m hoping it won’t be very noticeable later haha.

The break in the nasal bridge that bothered me the most is gone, and the nasal tip and columellar retraction have also improved well, so I’m satisfied with the line. Above all, because it was revision surgery, I had more worries, but I actually think it looks more natural than before I had it done.
