Hello. I guess the day has come when I post here. I’ve only been receiving help up until now, so I’m writing this review because I also wanted to help others. I had 2 contour procedures (square jaw + chin setback reduction). While I was in orthodontic treatment, my jaw developed more and my face became longer, and because my chin looked protruded when I smiled, juniors who had no filter teased me by calling me "chin guy senior." I laughed it off, but I think it really hurt me inside; haha I wanted to smile without my chin sticking out, at least when smiling! Wanting a softer image, I looked into various procedures and surgeries, and decided to find a place for chin surgery. There’s a dentist older brother nearby, and he said surgeries involving the jaw are much more specialized in oral and maxillofacial surgery than in plastic surgery. Since my bite is normal, I preferred a relatively simple contour surgery over double jaw surgery or lower jaw surgery. Before going here, I visited about 3 places, and the reason I chose Y Oral Surgery in the end was because the director was calm, and I fully agreed with the statement that men look best with male facial contours, so that’s what made me decide. I booked the surgery date right on the day I visited.
On the day of surgery Once the anesthesia wore off after surgery, I got a headache. I didn’t just have contour surgery; I also had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted, so it was even more painful. My throat was a bit scratchy and not being able to drink water was nothing, but the pressure on the wisdom tooth extraction sites from the pulling device was really... hard to bear. The places where the 4 wisdom teeth were extracted hurt and bothered me much more than the chin surgery site. When I told them about my condition, they immediately gave me more painkillers, and maybe worried that something might happen, every staff member I had seen at the hospital came by and checked my blood pressure for me. I was deeply moved by the feeling that everyone on the team was taking care of me and managing my condition. The night-duty female nurse. She kept checking whether I needed anything, couldn’t even sleep, and took care of me all night, so I’m very grateful. Until before 10 p.m., I was thinking, why did I ever get this surgery, what glory and fortune was I chasing... but after 10, my vision became clearer, the pain subsided, and I felt fine. I live in the countryside, so if I left too early, the train schedule wouldn’t work. I asked the director whether I could be discharged a little late around noon, and he kindly understood, so I was truly grateful. (I was also really worried about whether it would be better to go around in a car while resting after contour surgery, and whether it would be embarrassing to go around with my face all swollen, but if you wear a beanie, pull up your hood, and wear a mask like in the COVID days, people around you won’t recognize you at all To those who are going alone, take courage from me!)
Photo from week 2 (day 13) The swelling went down a lot. I came up from a province far from Seoul for the surgery, but as a silver lining I ended up walking a lot. To go to the week-1 checkup and the week-2 checkup, I took the KTX in the morning, then the subway, then walked to the hospital, and before catching the train back I walked around for a long time window-shopping, and then came home and collapsed I think I walked a lot! Thanks to that, the swelling went down a lot too At the week-2 follow-up I went to get my stitches removed, and I had thought it would hurt from reading reviews It did sting a bit, but the director really removed them well, so the appointment went smoothly. When Director O.S.J. first saw me, he said, "You have a soft image when you wear a mask, but without it you have a strong masculine image," and that was my complex... because my chin shape was completely square and long.. A few people said, after seeing me without a mask, that I was different from what they had expected... But these days, every time I look in the mirror, wow... it has really become softer. The square-jaw line has softened, and most importantly, when I gently look in the mirror and smile, my chin doesn’t come forward. Just that alone was more than enough for me to be completely satisfied with the surgery. Of course, the swelling hasn’t fully gone down yet, so I shouldn’t let my guard down. But so far, I’m really satisfied.
