8 days after breast surgery

I had surgery last Thursday, and now a week has passed. Encouraged by the support from the people who sent me messages, I’m posting a review. 1. The night of surgery I used cold compresses to reduce swelling. I usually sleep curled up on my side, but on the night of surgery, it was hard to sleep lying straight on my back, facing forward. 2. Surgery +1 day: Maybe because of the compression bandage, there was a bit of stuffiness and heaviness. I felt mild pain a few times, about like on the first day of surgery. If you take the medicine properly, it’s okay. -_- In the afternoon, I went to the hospital and had the compression bandage removed, and there was taping to help position the breasts. The director disinfected the incised areolar area, placed gauze, and then applied waterproof tape. He said I could shower right away and should move my body lightly and often. I wore a compression bra, and to create a natural upper breast line, a breast band was wrapped around the upper breasts. That day, since the breasts were swollen, they were like bouncy balls. Cold compresses were for 3 days including the day of surgery, and warm compresses were from after that until the next appointment. When I left, I got antibiotics and an injection to reduce swelling. At home, I ate some pumpkin porridge and drank some pumpkin juice. ^^ 3. Surgery +2 days: That day, instead of feeling heaviness in the breasts, there wasn’t even any mild pain. Before breast surgery, I had only heard worries from people around me saying that for a while I wouldn’t be able to move and that it would be completely painful, but after surgery, I go around telling several people I know that I’m really okay. Um.. anyway, it felt strange that my breasts suddenly got bigger, so I kept looking in the mirror. Haha. I had nothing special to do, so I rested at home using cold compresses. 4. Surgery +3~5 days: On day 3, I went for a light hike. I wore a warm compress pack bought at the pharmacy over thin clothes. ^^ On days 4 and 5 after surgery, movement was very comfortable too. Oh, on day 5 after surgery, I spent the whole day playing at an amusement park. I rode several rides, including the fastest roller coaster in Korea, and it didn’t affect my breasts. haha 5. Surgery days 6~7: Occasionally, my whole breasts tingled slightly. Also, should I say it felt like a slightly electric, numb sensation in the breasts? A sensory symptom like just before your leg falls asleep when you sit wrong? It felt like that too. I guess it was because the nerve sensation in my breasts was coming back. And I lightly put my finger over the gauze to check nipple sensation and pressed, and it was a bit dull but painful. I guess nipple sensation is returning to some extent. A coworker who had an areolar incision at another hospital one week earlier than me said she still has no sensation in the areola.. I hope she recovers quickly too. 6. Surgery day 8 The tissue is settling much more naturally than when I first had surgery. The swelling has gone down a bit. ha In the afternoon, I went to the hospital, had the tape supporting the breast position removed, and had the stitches taken out. When removing the stitches, it stung lightly two or three times and didn’t hurt. The director carefully applied thin tape again over the incision sites and taught me a massage method to secure the breast pocket. When I saw my breasts after the tape was removed, I naturally thought, “Wow~ my breasts got bigger, they’re pretty.” And I got one injection to reduce swelling. When I came home and looked at my breasts in the mirror again, I was satisfied and happy. Mom also seems satisfied. Now what’s left is to take my medicine properly and massage diligently to make my breasts soft and squishy. I did take a few photos thinking about attaching them, but they said it will take about 2 more weeks for the inframammary fold to be completed, so when the swelling goes down then and the breast line settles a bit more, I’ll upload photos. ^^
