Concern I originally had double eyelids, but as I got older, the inner corners of my eyes gradually became hollow, so multiple creases and double eyelid folds formed. If the line had simply become deeper along that fold, I probably would not have considered surgery, but the outer part of my eyes was drooping and the line near the inner corner kept getting deeper, until I had as many as 7 creases and my eyes were starting to look like cow eyes, so I decided to have surgery. If multiple creases are your concern, I hope you get surgery even a day sooner. I will mention this later too, but if I had done it before the multiple creases settled in, it could have been done with buried sutures or natural adhesion, but mine had settled too deeply, so I had no choice but to proceed with an incisional method.. 2. Choosing the clinic and doctor I do not live in Seoul, and because of time and work, I had to proceed quickly, so it was difficult for me to visit many clinics in person, make appointments in advance, and wait. Instead, since this was a surgery I had been thinking about for a long time, I did a lot of online research and narrowed it down to a few places. Among them, I had the surgery with Dr. Lee Han-byeol, who was at the top of my wish list. When doing online research, I mainly looked for eyes or cases most similar to mine, and checked whether the post-op result was the kind of eye shape I would be satisfied with. I already had double eyelids and liked my original eyes, so I did not want a big or dramatic change. I chose this place because it seemed the safest and least obvious, and they did not pressure me into excessive procedures. During the consultation, we checked whether buried sutures or natural adhesion would be possible. The doctor said surgery was possible, but the new line would probably form together with the multiple creases, so the line would not be corrected, and recommended an incisional method. At the time, the multiple creases were severe, so the line was not forming properly. I requested lateral canthoplasty and fat removal, but the doctor refused all of them and recommended proceeding with incision and upper eyelid fat repositioning. Upper eyelid fat repositioning was included in the incisional surgery fee, so there was no additional cost. Since I had gone to the consultation without considering incision, the doctor also told me I could think about that part and contact them slowly. Because of things like this, I felt very considered and thought the consultation was sincere. I had consultations at other clinics too, but I had already marked this place from the beginning, and it seemed like they would provide good aftercare, so I decided to proceed with the surgery even though it was incisional. 3. Surgery process I remember the surgery schedule being set quickly. I had the consultation, booked the surgery about a week later, and the surgery was scheduled for the week after that. (I had surgery in mid-March, so it may have been because it was the off-season.) For one eye, we decided to continue along the existing multiple double eyelid line, and for the other eye, we made the line slightly higher than the original line. The doctor checked the lines several times and adjusted the asymmetry. The surgery was done with sedation anesthesia plus local anesthesia, so I opened my eyes from time to time during surgery so the line could be checked. The surgery took about 1 hour. 4. Review The swelling was pretty severe until days 3-4, but after that the swelling was not that bad. By 1 month, all the major swelling had gone down, and from 2 months, a lot of the minor swelling had also gone down. From 3 months, everyone said it did not look obvious. For the eye that had multiple creases, that area swelled a lot during fat repositioning and the line looked distorted, so I was really worried. But the doctor reassured me, saying the line had come out neatly, to wait until the swelling went down, and that if any problem occurred, they would provide A/S and take responsibility until the end. Once all the swelling went down, the line was clean, so I am completely satisfied!! Also, at 1 week, I had the stitches removed and received swelling laser treatment before leaving. And for the incisional scar, mine was really severe at 1 month. It did fade by 3 months, but there were still some bumpy raised areas of tissue left, so the clinic gave me a scar injection. After that, the remaining bumpiness disappeared a lot, so now at 4 months, all the swelling is gone and the scar is even less noticeable!! For incisional scars, they told me to wait until 3 months, and if recovery was slow, the clinic would take measures. They also said that if it was still severe after that, I should visit again 3 months later. (They said if too much scar injection is injected, that area can become indented over time, so it is treated gradually with time in between.) I am so satisfied because my eyes look clearer than before and the line has been organized into one. Honestly, I was really worried because it was an incisional method. I worried a lot about things like, if the line is not even, will the incision look too obvious, and what if the scar is bad? But although recovery takes some time, I do not have to worry about the fold coming undone, the line is clean, and I feel like the surgical marks are less noticeable than what I had thought of as typical incision scars. I originally thought incisional surgery looks very obvious when the eyes are closed, but even now at 4 months, it looks quite natural when I close my eyes. I think it will settle even more naturally with time!
