It's been just over a year since I had alar reduction surgery, and I'm really satisfied! I don't have a single scar, and my nose has gotten a lot smaller. Even my parents, who kept opposing the surgery, now really like it and say medical technology has truly advanced. That said, you shouldn't expect an extremely dramatic effect from alar reduction alone; you should think of it more as a subtle refinement. The consultation itself, though, didn't seem very thorough. My nose was originally uneven, but maybe they didn't catch it during the pre-op consultation because they never mentioned it... So right on the operating table, I hurriedly told them my nose was uneven, and only then did they change the plan to reduce the larger side a bit more.
