Around this time last year, I decided to get double eyelid surgery, and now it has been 1 year since the surgery. Before the surgery, I read tons of blogs and was only worried about how painful medial epicanthoplasty, incisional double eyelid surgery, and ptosis correction would be. I really hate pain, and I'm more sensitive to pain than most people, so I was extremely worried when I had the surgery.
Ptosis correction... I couldn't have sedation anesthesia and local anesthesia, so it was really painful. On the day of surgery, I heard that anesthesia couldn't be used during ptosis correction because of muscle movement(??). I think saying double eyelid surgery doesn't hurt at all because of anesthesia is a bit exaggerated. Of course, there can be individual differences, but ptosis correction really hurt!
Medial epicanthoplasty... I heard some people have no scars, but unfortunately, the medial epicanthoplasty scar is clearly visible on one of my eyes. I was told it can vary depending on constitution, but if your skin is a bit sensitive like mine, you should take medial epicanthoplasty scarring into account.
On one side, a very small amount of scar tissue rose up, so the line at the inner corner of my eye feels slightly loosened. I also had surgery at a fairly large and famous plastic surgery clinic in Sinsa-dong, but one double eyelid line is a little disappointing. I don't think both eye sizes come out perfectly identical either.
What I want to tell people who are about to get double eyelid surgery for the first time is that surgery will not necessarily turn out perfectly just because the clinic is famous and big. During the consultation, it feels like everything will be perfect... Before deciding on a clinic, make sure to visit many places and compare them!
