This is my first surgery review, written honestly since it’s anonymous Back then, things like brokers were still unfamiliar to me, so I searched only on Naver, looked for a place with natural results, a lot of in-clinic surgery reviews, and no accidents in contouring, went to consult only one clinic, thought this was the one, and went ahead with it. The result after 4 years is so dramatic, so successful, that it turned out really well, but there are drawbacks and hardships, so if it seems too long, just read the conclusion!
When I was young, I combined the allowance I had gotten from my parents without thinking much, and the part-time money I had saved for several years, and around the fall when I was 19, I used the time while my dad was on a long business trip, got my mom’s consent, and had surgery. Even though I hadn’t had cosmetic surgery on my facial features, I was already told my features were perfect and pretty, but I had chewed gum and squid a lot over time, so my muscles became extremely developed, and when I was young my face was very slim, but as my square jaw started developing, and my body type started gaining weight only in my face, my face shape was ruined because even my facial fat increased.. There didn’t seem to be anyone around me with a more angular face or a larger face than mine.. The reason I decided on surgery was that whenever my mom looked at my face shape, she would touch it and sigh, asking why it had become like this, so as a young kid I got very irritated and angry. I kept saying I knew best, so why were they always criticizing me There really were so many hardships that I can’t even fit them all here.. Looking back, doing it after getting counseling from only one place, and proceeding without knowing anything at such a young age, I think I was really bold to go through with it.
A slightly unusual and honest review of getting contour surgery as a minor
[Hospital where I had surgery] - It was a contour-specialized clinic, and even on weekday daytime there were really a lot of people. A friend who looked around my age came in to check their progress after contour surgery, and I don’t remember their face overall, but their face shape looked so small and delicate that it left an impression, enough for me to think, “This turned out really well; I should get consulted and do it too.”
- The manager explained things well, and the director seemed like he would do a good job and was kind, but I think the explanation and consultation time were short. The impression stayed with me, but I don’t really remember the consultation content.
- They said the zygoma could be done or not done, but I just asked to have it done together since I was already doing it. Maybe because I was young, I just went ahead without worrying about the things other people think about for months or years.. It’s a relief that it turned out well; I really could have been in big trouble.
- It had been a long time since the surgery, so if I jump back to the time of surgery, it was absolutely not a cheap amount for a student to handle. For the zygoma and square jaw together, I think it was 7.10 million won in cash, or maybe 7.50 million won.. They said my jaw muscles were so developed that doing them together would be more effective, and I think that was an extra 1.50 million won. I didn’t have enough money, so I said I wouldn’t do muscle reduction, thinking I could get Botox later or have a separate procedure later, but on the day of surgery, the doctor said that the square jaw in my face was all muscle, and that it really seemed necessary. After thinking about it a little, they did the muscle removal for free. Honestly, for people with developed jaw muscles like me, I feel like just muscle removal alone might have shown a result, so it was a godsend. Thank you, doctor,,
[Reality after surgery] - When I woke up after general anesthesia, I was in the recovery room, and from the moment I woke up until a week later, or until the bandages came off, it was pain itself. The feeling of the drainage tube was gross and painful too. 30% felt like “I’m dying, I don’t even know,” and 70% felt painful and suffocating.
- One reason I resented the hospital was that they didn’t explain swelling and recovery very thoroughly.. They made it sound like two weeks would be enough, so since I had the surgery with 2-3 weeks left of the high school vacation, I thought if I still had a little swelling I’d just tell my teachers and friends I had a wisdom tooth removed.. But it was obvious enough that rumors spread, the swelling lasted a very long time, and there were rumors at school that I had contour surgery or double-jaw surgery. I regretted having surgery. I can’t put all my complaints into words here, but it was very hard. Of course, swelling differs depending on management and recovery ability, but it is still very noticeable even after a month. Not just a little.. I didn’t manage the swelling properly, so I think it took more than two years for everything to fully settle. For those two years, I kept wondering whether they had shaved the jawline wrong, and when the feeling in my zygoma would return.
- It also took about two years for the zygoma sensation to return, like it felt as if I had been given numbing cream and local anesthesia? I kept living with that feeling. When I put on makeup and tapped on cushion foundation, or did eye-area makeup, I felt numbness like the anesthesia hadn’t worn off, and the sensation was really unpleasant. I was also scared that the feeling might never come back.. Now, 4 years later, I think about 97% of the sensation has returned. I don’t think it will ever come back completely, but it doesn’t bother me at all! The zygoma result isn’t that dramatic, because even before surgery it wasn’t very prominent, so I felt like it maybe didn’t need to be done, but looking at pre-op photos.. it was definitely better to have done it, though since my zygoma wasn’t severe to begin with, it wasn’t dramatic. One reason I got it done impulsively was because they said it was a zygoma reduction surgery without screw fixation, so it wouldn’t show at the airport or even on X-rays, and I think that just tempted me.
- You might think having it done young would prevent or reduce sagging, but maybe because my area was broad, I did get sagging and only found out later. Before surgery, my cheeks were a little plump, but after surgery I became slimmer than before, yet the area right below the jawline was vague rather than a double chin, so it looked like a double line. I thought it was swelling or that my face had gained fat, but about a year and a half or two years later, I found out it was sagging skin and went to a clinic known for good procedures, paid 1.50 million won, and got cocktail lifting. After lifting, I realized, ah, this contour surgery hospital really did the surgery itself very well. I had just been living with dissatisfaction because of facial sagging. I only started feeling satisfied with the surgery after the lifting. It took quite a long time, didn’t it.
- Now, 4 years later, even though I only had one lifting treatment 2 years ago, after baby fat came off and the jawline became visible, my face shape became so, so, so much prettier than before. It’s not a big jaw either; they shaved it as much as possible within my facial frame.
- Even if you get contour surgery, it only narrows your face as much as possible within your own facial line; a celebrity-like tiny face is only possible if the head shape and side profile are narrow. You need to be born with a small head and face. That’s the fact. Just because you had surgery does not mean you are guaranteed to get a perfect face shape within your face size, and you do not become tiny-faced! Absolutely not!
- And if I were told to get contour surgery now, I think I couldn’t have done it because of work, being busy, swelling worries, and concerns about choosing the hospital, so in the end I’m satisfied with having gone through surgery and the emotional hardship when I was young (only now looking back). Also, friends who don’t know I had surgery just look at my features and think I’m all natural.. Since nothing artificial was inserted, it doesn’t really show if the surgery turns out well.
