I told him I wanted the other eye to match the line on the eye that already had a double eyelid, and before surgery in the consultation room, he designed the line on my right eye to match my left eye. Surgery was done on both sides. Before surgery, he checked the line once more in the operating room and then proceeded with the surgery. I don’t think the surgery took 30 minutes. It was my first plastic surgery, so I was very nervous, but the director was kind, and during the preparation time in the operating room, small talk with the nurse helped ease my tension, so I was able to receive it comfortably.
As for pain after surgery, after the anesthesia wore off, the numb, tingling sensation under my eyes was strong, and the double-eyelid area did not have much pain that I would describe as painful. And most of the major swelling went down after one week. There was a slight bruise from the anesthetic injection above my left eye, but with makeup it was almost covered, so it did not interfere much with daily life.
A close older friend I happened to meet recently said, “You got prettier?” She didn’t know I had surgery. That’s how naturally the line came out, so I feel good. Before surgery, my under-eye area was very hollow and my dark circles were severe, so I always had to apply a lot of concealer to cover the tired look. The dark circles didn’t disappear, but as the hollowness improved, my under-eye area became much brighter, so I don’t even need to use concealer separately.
