A while ago, through an acquaintance’s introduction, I visited Director Choi Hang-seok at Tiana. The consultation took place as soon as morning appointments began. Before the consultation, they took photos of my nose, and based on those photos, he explained the surgical scope and methods in detail while considering the overall harmony of my face.
He said that because the osteotomy had been done excessively during my first surgery, no additional surgery can now be performed on that area. On top of that, my nasal bone had a slight hump, so my nasal tip was drooping, and my septum had undergone calcification, making it difficult to use anymore. Taking these conditions into account, the director suggested methods using donated costal cartilage or ear cartilage.
He also advised that alar base reduction was optional for me and not something I absolutely had to do. I was impressed by how carefully he explained multiple options in order to make the balance between my face and nose look as natural as possible.
To be honest, my first surgery ended in failure. Because I have a bulbous nose, the frontal appearance is more important than the side profile, but when I asked for a natural result, the frontal appearance, meaning the shape of the nasal tip and nostrils, barely changed. On top of that, as the nose became higher, the deviated area became even more noticeable, so I ultimately did not get a satisfying result. After that, I kept putting off revision surgery because of fear and lack of time, and 10 years ended up passing.
Then, as I got older, I started thinking, “If I don’t do it now, I really don’t think I’ll be able to anymore,” so I asked an acquaintance in the medical field for help. That acquaintance recommended Director Choi Hang-seok, saying he is the best at rhinoplasty, and based on that trust, I decided to undergo revision surgery.
What I felt during the consultation was that both the director and the consultant sincerely understood the patient’s condition and concerns and carefully suggested solutions. Even for a complex case like mine, they presented specific and realistic solutions, so I felt I could trust them.
