This is my first time writing in this community. The thing is, I’m in a pretty upsetting situation, but I don’t know much about the cosmetic surgery scene. I’d appreciate it if you could look at this objectively.
I had double eyelid surgery in early March this year (incision + ptosis correction).
But even back then, they didn’t remove the stitches properly, so some stitches were sticking out. Since it was urgent, I had the protruding stitches removed at a nearby ophthalmology clinic.
However, it turned out that besides those protruding stitches, other stitches were still left inside as well. After 7 months, an inclusion cyst eventually formed in that area, and pus built up due to inflammation.
When I revisited the hospital, both the doctor who had seen me 7 months ago and the consultant were no longer there, so I was assigned entirely new people.
Anyway, before the revision surgery, they said they would only need to make a small incision in that area and remove the stitches. But during the revision surgery, they found that there was a knot in a deeper area, so they ended up making a larger incision than expected. When I looked in the mirror afterward, they had re-incised and sutured almost about 2/3 of my double eyelid line.
In any case, because of the hospital’s fault, I had to be cut open again, bruise again, spend another 6 months getting the swelling down, and in the end I’m the only one suffering. Is it normal for them to just waive the revision surgery fee and leave it at that?
Since it was clearly the hospital’s fault, shouldn’t they at least apologize? I’m bewildered that they acted so shamelessly without even saying one word of apology. lol I was also taken aback that I had to pay separately for the medication afterward.
There was also no mention at all of aftercare following the revision surgery. I have no idea whether I need to sleep sitting up again or what. There were no aftercare instructions, and all I received was just a prescription and a cold-compress eye mask.
Is this a normal way to handle things? Leaving the medication cost aside, I’m so angry that they didn’t even apologize. I’m thinking of calling the hospital and saying something, but am I being an unreasonable complainer?
