I’m someone who had buried suture double eyelid surgery + non-incisional ptosis correction 2 weeks ago... After surgery, I had tightness in my eyes, stinging/dry eye discomfort, glare/halos, etc. Among those, the tightness and stinging slowly improved over time, but the glare/halos continued.
On day 3, when I went to the clinic to have the stitches removed, they said it would get better as time passed and the swelling went down, so I thought that must be the case and was waiting for it to improve.
But even after surgery, the glare/halos didn’t improve, and my vision also got worse. When I look at a digital clock, I see each number twice, one above and one below, and I guess astigmatism developed because when I look at people far away, things like their jawline and eye shape look doubled. But this varies day by day and depending on my condition, sometimes I see well and sometimes I don’t, so I just thought it was part of the recovery process. It would be a bit better and then worse, but especially yesterday it was really bad.
Yesterday, I went to the clinic for my 2-week follow-up and said that I couldn’t see well, that when I was walking today I couldn’t really recognize the faces of people coming toward me, and that the numbers on a digital clock screen looked doubled. The doctor said it didn’t seem like a side effect of ptosis correction, but that around 2 weeks later, even if the symptoms haven’t completely disappeared, they should be gradually improving, and that they didn’t know the cause, so they said let’s just undo the entire surgery. They said 2 weeks after surgery is the golden time, so we should undo everything within this week.
Right now my eyes have gone down in terms of major swelling and only minor swelling remains, and externally, the surgery turned out well...
I also went to an ophthalmology clinic, and there they said one eye developed quite a bit of astigmatism and my myopia also dropped by about 6 levels or something. That’s why I feel like I can’t see... But from the ophthalmologist’s perspective, they said it seems like I don’t need to undo my eyes, and that as time passes I’ll probably adapt and it will resolve. They said since there’s still minor swelling, we don’t know yet, and wouldn’t it be a waste to undo the double eyelid surgery? They said they personally think I don’t need to undo it.
In other double eyelid surgery reviews too, some people say issues like trouble focusing or glare/halos get better after a month, while others say their vision never came back, so I’m even more unsure. If I undo the double eyelid surgery, will my vision come back? Or will it come back even if I don’t undo it?
Who should I listen to?? I think the plastic surgeon is saying that if I feel uneasy, we should just undo it because I had already been really worried about ptosis correction even before surgery... For reference, I’m a case where an ophthalmologist said I had ptosis and recommended ptosis correction.. Ha, seriously Thinking that I wasted my money and time makes me feel so upset, seriously
