Cheekbone Surgery Reviews

6 months after contouring surgery, at last...

The before-before-before / after-after-after / before-surgery worries Ever since I was young, my big, wide face was a complex for me. I tried Botox and massage therapy, but the effect was minimal, so after a long time of deliberation, I had surgery.

Hospital and info In April, I had the 3 types of facial contouring at SamSaOh (zygomatic arch, square jaw, and chin) + cortical osteotomy + masseter reduction.

Recovery process After the 2-month mark, there was nothing left that could really be called recovery, so I just lived normally and diligently used the compression band. Right now, my life is basically the same as before surgery. I sleep on my side, and I work out too! There are still a few areas where sensation is a little dull, and sometimes my cheekbones or jaw ache or feel numb, but since I had surgery, I think that is just something I have to accept.

Side effects On top of the usual discomfort I mentioned above, I had seen posts saying that acne often appears on the chin after surgery, and I definitely do have more sebum on my chin than before, so I’m taking care of the oil buildup seriously. So far, I haven’t had any cheek sagging, skin sagging, or other side effects at all. Still, I thought there was no harm in taking care of it early, so I bought a beauty device for home care.

Swelling Most of the big swelling seems to be gone. Since I see my face every day, I couldn’t really tell, but friends who knew I had surgery told me that the swelling is going down day by day and my face is getting slimmer. My cheeks still look a bit puffy, as if some swelling remains, but I heard that minor swelling can take up to a year to go down, so I’m planning to keep watching it for a while.

Changes / satisfaction My facial lines have become much softer and my face size has decreased too. My chin used to be on the long side, so I especially love my side profile now. My proportions look better too, and my neck looks longer, so I’m extremely satisfied. I used to always hide my face with my hair, but now I feel pretty confident even when I tie my hair up haha. Even when I take photos with a regular camera, my face looks different from before, so I actually enjoy taking pictures now. I’m glad I put up with the uncomfortable parts and went through with the surgery.

People’s reactions I also dieted at the same time, so people around me thought I had just lost weight. I think one major advantage of contouring surgery is that nobody knows unless you tell them. Even relatives I hadn’t seen in a while said my looks were at their peak lately and asked why I’d become so pretty, so I felt proud. Friends who knew I’d had surgery even asked for the hospital info, so I shared it with them.

Scarring For those who are curious, there is still a little bit of surgical scarring left. But since it’s beside the sideburn area, you really won’t notice it unless you stare closely. So women don’t need to worry since it’s covered by hair.

Eating Since after the 2-month mark, I’ve been eating whatever I want freely. I’m eating almost the same as before surgery, but I’m still being careful with hamburgers or other foods that require a wide mouth opening, as well as wraps/ssam-style foods, and anything too hard or too chewy like dried seafood.

This review is about a surgery that pursues a refined look.
