- Surgery history: 4 mm silicone / septal strut / ear cartilage / nasal tip tying - Reason for removal: redness on the nasal bridge (my skin couldn’t handle the silicone thickness) - Removal method: after removing the silicone, lowered the nasal tip, then used ear cartilage and dermis from behind the ear to finish the nasal bridge smoothly - Someday, when I try to put something in my nose again, I plan to read this and get myself together / why are there so few removal reviews... I hope this removal review helps everyone, so I’ll write even every few days if I can
Right up until just before surgery, I couldn’t decide whether to remove it or lower it. If lowering it, I was going to go way down to 2 mm, and the director told me then to look at the thickness of the silicone. They said 2 mm is literally about the level of a thick sheet of paper. I touched it and it really was...
If I put in 2.5 mm, my skin couldn’t even handle 4 mm, so there was no way to know whether my skin would be okay (possible repeated revision after revision). Looking at the 2 mm, I said, “If I’m going to put this in, wouldn’t it be better not to put anything in?” and just went ahead with removal surgery. The operating room staff comforted me, saying these days a lot of people do it without implants too,, kind
Anyway, right now there’s no bleeding at all, not much swelling, and not much foreign-body sensation in my nose either I can breathe well through my nose too. More than anything, I feel so, so comfortable mentally. I think I did well removing it...... Usually after removal, they say they only do taping, but maybe because I had cartilage repositioning, I’m also wearing a splint~~
