I had the taping removed on day 8, and by around week 3, I could open my mouth enough to fit about two fingers. I think a lot of sensation had also come back around then.
I had already heard about the surgery experience from my friend who had it first, so I was mentally prepared, and the recovery period didn’t feel difficult. Even when I occasionally felt tingling in my face, I thought, “The nerves must be safely coming back,” so I wasn’t too worried.
At 1 month, sensation in my left jaw had all returned, and the right side just seemed like it needed to come back a bit more. By 2 months, I could open my mouth more freely. The swelling around my mouth went down a lot, so the line also became more natural. Overall, it’s a surgery I’m satisfied with.
