This is my review a little over 2 weeks after surgery on September 12, after even getting the intraoral stitches removed>.<
<Reason for surgery> My face wasn't large and I didn't have a face shape with a very developed square jaw, but as I got older and lost facial fat, I realized my cheekbones protruded compared with the width of my face. So I tried Juvelook Volume injections, Shurink, InMode, and Ultherapy on my face, but those couldn't remove bone, so I looked into surgery.
<Choosing the hospital> I went to about 5 hospitals, and at 4 of them they recommended that I absolutely needed all 3 facial contouring procedures. I was tempted because they said doing all 3 would give better results and satisfaction, but they were all factory-style clinics, and I wasn't drawn to the way they just repeated the conclusion of doing all 3 like parrots. So I kept looking around and found the hospital where I got my contouring surgery. During the consultation, the director consulted with me for about 20 to 30 minutes, and said that at my level, he would not suggest or recommend surgery, so I was like, huh? He was just so honest that I was even more flustered. The director first told me to think about it for about a week, so I thought for a week and decided on surgery. Before surgery, I said my cheekbones looked protruded and my midface looked long... and he recommended two contouring procedures, cheekbone reduction and chin tip reduction, so I had the surgery.
<Surgery review> Day 1 - Honestly, I was so out of it that I don't remember. Still, I was scared so I brought a doll, and they made sure I held it well in my hand and let me rest enough before leaving. All the nurses were angels..... And after waking up from anesthesia, I went to the pharmacy alone, got my medication, took a taxi home, and I wasn't in pain. I didn't swell much and had no bruising, so even my mom was surprised.
Days 2-4 - I had surgery during the Chuseok holiday, so I stayed lying down well at home, lived on soy milk/milk/juice/misutgaru, and they said I could take off the compression band while sleeping, but I was worried I might sleep on my side if I took it off, so I wore it even while sleeping... I walked a lot and happily did ice packs. There was no visible bruising at all. If I wore a hat and mask, I just looked like a normal person, and from this point I started having tingling pain.
1 week - Because it was the holiday, I had to remove the bandage myself, so my mom and I spent over an hour taking it off... I almost died Removing the bandage almost killed me more than the pain from surgery. I gradually became able to open my mouth, so I ate porridge with soft solids, castella + milk, and anything I thought was very tasty and soft. Since I didn't do square jaw surgery, I thought I might be able to chew, but my cheekbones + chin hurt so much that I chewed twice and swallowed everything... Want to diet but can't because of your appetite? Get surgery.... I ate and lay down, and only walked slowly in the morning and evening, but lost 4 kg.
Week 2 - Now I'm starting to try chewing, so I'm cooking the porridge solids very soft and chewing them, and for now I'm trying all soft foods. It makes me wonder if castella + milk was always this delicious. There is still swelling at my chin tip and cheekbones, so I look like a little hamster, but I don't remember my old face shape... I think I'll look slimmer once the swelling goes down. Because of work, I couldn't do warm compresses often, but it was okay; instead, after work I walked a lot. Rather than the surgical area, it hurt when I pressed my temples and forehead. (Of course the surgical area hurts if pressed.)
It's only been a little over 2 weeks since my surgery, but I really don't regret it! (Except for not being able to eat.. Chuseok was so, so hard..) I met a really good director and had surgery without pain, so I feel like his skill is seriously unbelievable, and I'm endlessly grateful to the always-kind consultant and nurses!!!! I'm so, so curious how much I'll have changed after a month!!!
