This is a bit long, but please still read it..!
I had my first double-eyelid surgery when I was a senior in high school, but I only went to 2 places for consultations. Hospital A was recommended by the mother of a friend who works in the entertainment industry, and they recommended the non-incisional buried-suture method. Hospital B was where an older friend I know had hers done, and they recommended the incisional method.
But at the time, a lot of people were saying that if I did the buried-suture method, it would come undone and I would need revision surgery again, so I thought, since I’m doing it anyway, let’s finish it in one go. So I chose to do the incisional method at Hospital B, and it was also close by, so I had it done there.
But the result was truly disastrous. One side wasn’t the double eyelid I wanted, but the other side was really, really so serious that even people passing by would look at me with an expression like, ‘Wow, what happened to that person?’ It was such a severe sausage-like eyelid, and the mucosa was all exposed, almost flipped outward. So I went back to that hospital for consultations and complained, living like that for almost a year, and then I went to a hospital famous for revision surgery and had revision surgery again.
Before surgery, if there were 100 people, all 100 would have tried to stop me, saying why would you get double-eyelid surgery, don’t do it. After the revision surgery, of course it turned out better than the first surgery and it’s at a level where I can live normally, but still, when I lower my eyes or take photos, the sausage-like look is so, so noticeable. The moment I regret most in my life is getting double-eyelid surgery at Hospital B without much information or many reviews,, I’ve been getting by okay for 6 years now, but when I look at photos from before I had double-eyelid surgery, I really, really want to go back and I regret it.
