This is actually my third double eyelid surgery, and until now, I had surgery with incisions but was afraid the deep fixation would make my impression look too intense, so I insisted on partial incision only. But after it loosened both times, I realized that for my eyes, full incision is just the answer.. So I thought that and went around for revision consultations. That doesn’t mean I wanted to get double eyelid surgery just anywhere, and since this was my third revision surgery, I focused on places that would absolutely do it naturally!!! Places that would create a double eyelid line without changing my impression!!! That’s what I focused on while going around for consultations.
My workplace is near Apgujeong, so I mostly went to clinics around Apgujeong, but personally, rather than a large clinic with multiple doctors and a big scale, I think I was more drawn to a private clinic that gave systematic consultations. At large clinics, they make you wait a lot from the consultation stage.... (I was already drained from then) The director sees you for like 5 minutes and it’s over. The rest is explained by the consultant, and in the end the consultation felt like, there’s nowhere as good as us~ you should reserve~ so it really didn’t suit me at all.
So this was the biggest reason I had surgery at ㅇㄹ. It felt like I consulted with only the director for 20~30 minutes, and the consultant explained things like cost, post-op care, and precautions, but said I didn’t need to decide right away. They told me that since it was a revision surgery, I should visit several clinics and think carefully before deciding.
Honestly, during that consultation I also came to understand my eye condition accurately. I had medial epicanthoplasty during my first surgery too, but saw no effect at all, so I said I wanted a canthoplasty here as well. Since I said I didn’t want anything excessive or a dramatic change in my eye shape, it was good that instead of recommending all kinds of other things, they only talked about opening the inner corners naturally with medial epicanthoplasty.
Since this was my first full-incision surgery, and my third revision surgery, I was really worried about swelling and bruising. Of course, right after surgery I had bruising too, and my eyes obviously looked like “I had surgery~” to anyone, but (since I’ve gone through this three times, I was kind of okay with it^^) after the stitches were removed, the bruising and swelling went down quickly and the shape started settling.
In the past, because of recovery.. and because I was afraid the surgery would fail again, I avoided incision surgery. But just as everyone’s features are different, skin type and the degree of eyelid drooping are also different, so rather than getting surgery according to someone else’s standards, I think the best thing is to have double eyelid surgery with a method that fits your own eye condition. This time, I really, really hope it doesn’t loosen on my eyes and lasts a long time. I don’t have any recent selfies, so I couldn’t include a recent photo, but if I take a photo where my eyes show well, I’ll add it later even then hehe.
