During the first month after double-jaw surgery, there was also a period of intermaxillary fixation, so I couldn’t eat well, the swelling was severe, and I couldn’t speak properly, so daily life was really difficult and hard. As time gradually passed, at 2 months, the intermaxillary fixation was removed, so I could eat relatively freely and speak, which helped me regain energy and made daily life possible! Now at 3 months, I have orthodontic appliances all the way on the inside too, and the swelling has gone down much more and I can speak well, but the lower area still does feel somewhat unnatural.
I’m getting orthodontic treatment every month, and it’s still hard whenever they treat the inner molar area, and I get wounds too, so for about a week after treatment it hurts a lot and I’m still adjusting
I’ve had a protruding jaw since I was young, and it was a real complex for me, so I also had orthodontic treatment to compensate for it. Then I felt the limits of orthodontics, and the dental clinic also said there was no further way to fix it with orthodontics When acquaintances who know that from the side meet me after surgery and say my impression has become so much softer and that I look younger, every time I hear that, I think I’m glad I had double-jaw surgery
Also, before getting double-jaw surgery, I thought double-jaw surgery was the last resort and tried other things first, so I had nasolabial fold implant surgery and chin surgery, but in the end I realized double-jaw surgery was the answer
And every time I look in the mirror, I feel like I look much younger, and my bite is being aligned too. As I feel myself moving toward a normal occlusion, I think I should have done it sooner!
For those who have malocclusion but are hesitating because double-jaw surgery is a major surgery, I recommend not taking a detour like I did with orthodontics and other options, but going on the clear path of double-jaw surgery.
