Before-before-after-after-after-after It has been 3 months since surgery..! More than 80% of the swelling has gone down, and I think a lot of the awkwardness in my outward appearance has disappeared too~ Up until month 2, my mouth area felt awkward when I talked or made facial expressions, but after diligently doing mouth exercises, the muscles loosened up and it became much more natural! Even though I had orthodontic treatment in high school, my jaw became misaligned and my front teeth started to gap, so while looking into getting orthodontic treatment again, I decided on double-jaw surgery! As I passed through my growth period, the asymmetry became worse, and it started putting strain on my temporomandibular joint. In my case, the asymmetry was due to the lengths of the jawbones on both sides being different, so double-jaw surgery was the only answer. When I consulted about four oral and maxillofacial surgery hospitals, all of them diagnosed me as a double-jaw surgery case, so I became firmly set on surgery rather than orthodontics, and I ended up having double-jaw surgery including two contouring procedures (square jaw and chin)! At month 3, I visited Y Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, where I had the surgery, and took before-and-after photos. Compared with month 1, the swelling has really gone down a lot, so lately I’ve been feeling much more satisfied~ However, it feels like the swelling is going down very slowly, little by little, so I think I’ll have to keep watching until month 6! The part I was especially most worried about was not being able to close my mouth, and although it still doesn’t close perfectly now, there isn’t anything that feels very unnatural when I close my lips! These days, even when I meet new people, they can’t tell unless I say I had surgery, so I’m satisfied that the surgery turned out naturally!! It really feels like a dream and makes me happy that my face feels so much smaller and that I’m recovering well without double-jaw surgery side effects! haha If anyone has a case like mine, I definitely recommend looking into double-jaw surgery carefully before getting it!
