It’s called a hematoma, and if you go to the hospital and ask them to drain it, they tear inside the nose at the septal harvest area with a No. 11 scalpel without even anesthesia. They pour in hydrogen peroxide, and the blood goes gulping down your throat. I had this done twice. It was seriously awful. If you don’t drain this, inflammation develops. 3) Septal extension does not use a nasal bridge support. It is simply a method of placing the removed septal cartilage onto your original septal cartilage. So the nose definitely becomes higher, but even if the surgery goes well, there is a side effect. The philtrum area under the nose gets pulled upward too. People with a long philtrum should seriously think about it. A philtrum that is already long will look even longer. 4) Smiling becomes extremely unnatural. This is one of the drawbacks of septal extension, which can definitely raise the nose. It’s because the nasal tip becomes extremely hard. Septal extension is a case where septal cartilage is artificially added onto the septum, so you can’t press the nasal tip and can’t make a pig nose. When you smile, your lips don’t rise as much as your smile before surgery. You can’t smile broadly, and your lips become an awkward smiling shape. For a short nose + upturned nose where you definitely want to lengthen the nose, the answer is definitely the recently developed counter-rotation extension using ear cartilage.
